Chapter 32

Astrid’s POV Two months had passed since I first stepped onto the training grounds with Caspian’s sisters. In that time, I’d learned more than I ever thought possible and not just about fighting, agility, and wolf instincts, but about myself, my limits, and my bond with Caspian. Today, I was training with him. The palace courtyard was quiet, save for the rustle of leaves and the faint hum of energy that always seemed stronger when we were together. Caspian stood across from me, his amber eyes warm but focused, his stance commanding. “Ready?” he asked, voice low, teasing but firm. I nodded, feeling a thrill run through me. “Always.” The first few drills were simple sparring, defensive maneuvers, and movement coordination. But even in simplicity, I felt the bond between us pulse stronger. Our wolves moved in tandem, instincts blending, guiding my movements to mirror his, anticipating his attacks before he even made them. Caspian’s hands brushed mine as we circled, a gentle but grounding contact. “Good,” he murmured. “You’re faster than two months ago. Your reactions, sharper. Your wolf, stronger.” I smiled, breath rising with exertion. “I had excellent teachers,” I said, thinking of Mira, Elara, and Lyria. “But… training with you feels different. Connected. Complete.” He stepped closer, lowering his shoulder slightly, brushing mine in a deliberate move that was part lesson, part reassurance. “That’s the bond, Luna. Not just the magic, not just the wolf, it’s us. Together. Every move, every breath. That’s what makes you unstoppable.” Our sparring grew more intense, flowing into real combat drills. He blocked, I countered, he pushed, I parried, every motion syncing with our instincts. Each strike, each touch, each mirrored movement made the bond between us hum louder, hotter, alive in ways words could never capture. When we finally stopped, panting and laughing, Caspian’s hands rested on my shoulders, holding me close. “Two months,” he said softly. “And yet, it feels like we’ve been preparing for this moment our entire lives.” I leaned into him, feeling the warmth of our wolves entwined beneath the surface. “I feel it too. Stronger, braver and it’s because of you.” He brushed a strand of hair from my face and kissed me all over my face and finally on my lips, I could help but blush. His amber eyes glowing with pride. “And I because of you. We’re more than Alpha and Luna. We’re mates, bonded, soul and wolf. Nothing will break that.” I smiled, pressing my forehead to his. “Nothing.” The sun dipped lower, casting long shadows across the courtyard, but we stayed there, hearts syncing, wolves coiled together, and the strength of our bond, tested, proven, and alive, thrumming like a pulse between us. In that quiet moment, I realized something, two months of training, of growth, of trust… had transformed me. Not just into a fighter, not just into a Luna, but into Caspian’s equal in every way. And together, there was nothing we couldn’t face. Later that night when I slipped out onto the balcony. The air was cool against my skin, and the night was quiet, but I felt a warmth inside me, a pulse that had been growing stronger over the past few weeks. I closed my eyes, letting the wind brush over me, and reached inward. “Something’s… stirring,” I whispered, almost to myself. A familiar presence stirred in the shadows of my mind, my wolf. Strong, protective, and always present, she shifted within me, brushing against the edges of my consciousness. I feel it too, she murmured softly. There is… power. Something old, something hidden, waking. I swallowed, a shiver running down my spine. “It’s different,” I admitted. “Since I bonded with Caspian, since we mated, I feel it growing. Stronger. Like it’s trying to push its way out.” It has been there all along, Akira replied, calm but wary. I always knew you were more than human, more than wolf. Part fae. But it was locked, hidden, unreachable. Until now. I opened my eyes and looked up at the moon, silver and full. “Why now?” I asked. “Why after we bonded?” “Your connection with him has awakened it, my wolf said. The bond, the energy, the merging of heart, mind, and wolf, it has unlocked the barriers. Your fae nature… it is alive, and it senses freedom. A thrill, and a pang of fear raced through me. “But no one could ever sense it before,” I whispered. “No pack, no mage, no healer… and now it’s… awake?” Yes, my wolf replied. And it is powerful. Stronger than most would expect. But you must learn to control it. You cannot let it surge unchecked. Not yet. I pressed my hands to my chest, feeling the heartbeat of my bond with Caspian, the warmth of our mate connection, and beneath it all, a growing energy I had never felt before. It was playful, mischievous, wild, but undeniably potent. “What if I can’t control it?” I murmured, fear threading my voice. You can, my wolf said firmly. We will guide you. We always knew you were hybrid, part fae. And this, this growth it is not a threat. It is a gift. But it demands respect, focus, and understanding. You must learn what it wants, what it can do… before it decides for you. I exhaled slowly, letting the wind carry away some of the tension. The glow of the moon reflected in my eyes, and I felt the energy pulse through my veins, responding to the rhythm of my wolf and the bond with Caspian. “I will learn,” I whispered, more to myself than anyone else. “I will control it. I will understand it.” And I will be with you, Akira promised, through every surge, every whisper, every heartbeat. You are more than Alpha’s Luna. You are your own force. And the pack, your mate… they will feel it too, in time. I tilted my head to the night sky, letting the moonlight wash over me. The power inside me stirred once more, impatient, playful, insistent but no longer frightening. Not yet. Because I was ready to face it, to learn it, and to grow stronger than I had ever imagined. And soon… the world would see the true extent of what I was.
