My eyes remained glued to the clock, not just because Wesley was in surgery and I wanted to know how long it’d take for the doctor to finish his surgery. But more importantly I was counting down the minutes until my Master showed up, because I had no doubt he would. Rejecting a Summon was probably the stupidest thing I could do in my life and now I had no choice but to bear the consequences. He wrote in the letter that if I didn’t come willingly then he would have his men take me to him by force. Fighting would be futile. But was I willing to do it? I didn’t want to leave Wesley but Adan refused to listen to reason. I didn’t know why he wanted me to break up with my boyfriend. What would he get out of it? He has a picture of you in his office. There must be some reason. Why did Adan even keep a picture of me? And how long had he kept it? Was it always there? I would ask him. I wanted to know, though I knew I had no right to ask him anything. He could display our pictures wherever he wanted. He owned my family and I after all. But I would ask him. I wouldn’t let this go so easily. The first man who served Adan appeared from the left corridor and came to a stop a few feet away from me. I knew who he was by the clothes he was wearing. He was clad from head to toe in black with the letter A embroidered in gold on his left breast. Sharp blue eyes zeroed in on me like I was his prey and he wouldn’t stop until he’d shredded my insides. Man number two came just a minute later in the same attire and stopped beside the first one. He was slightly taller than the first one and significantly bulkier. Before I could ask them anything, three more men appeared from the right corridor and came to stand on either side of me. I looked behind me for an escape but only the OR stared back at me. There were no corridors which I could use to make a run for it. And even if I tried all these men would capture me before I could take two steps. However, before I could think about what to do, Adan himself appeared before me. I saw him walking over to me as if he owned this hospital—which he probably did considering how rich the Diamandis were. He was wearing a dark brown suit and his piercing green eyes kept me pinned in place until he was standing a couple of inches from me. “The angels who disobey must fall,” he said, breaking the silence which had me in a chokehold. “Ma—master,” I said in a whisper, knowing my time was up and it’d only been five minutes past seven. “You disobey my orders. Ignore my threats. And then reject my Summon.” The last word had me flinching, yet he didn't notice, or didn’t care. “What am I going to do with you, Angel?” I wished he would stop calling me angel because it sounded more like an endearment than a part of my name. “Mas—Master,” I said and fell silent because I didn’t know what else to say. We both knew I’d f****d up and now I’d have to face the consequences. “Are you going to come willingly or do I have to carry you out of here?” He asked and I bit my lip as I tried to come up with a reason that would make him leave me alone. “Wesley’s in surgery…” I said but his eyes hardened and I bit my tongue to stop myself from saying anything more about him. “If you don’t want him to die, then I suggest you come quietly. And if you want me to use force, then I have no problem in doing that either,” he stated, causing a shiver to run down my spine. “Wh—what do you mean?” I asked. “Do—don’t hurt him. Please… he hasn’t done anything to deserve this. Wesley’s a good man and he deserves a good life.” “And I have no problem ensuring he lives a good life provided you come with me. I told you to break up with him, but you didn’t. So I have no choice but to do what I’m doing now,” he replied and I hated that I had to agree with him, even though I didn’t want to. I wanted to blame him for being unreasonable and ruthless, but he was my Master. He had more right over me than Wesley or any other man ever could. If I had to obey anyone it was Adan. “I—If I come with you, then you’ll leave Wesley alone? You won’t go after him simply because he’s dating me, right?” I asked just as an idea sprouted in my head. I didn’t know what Adan planned to do with me once he got me back to the mansion but I really didn’t want to find out. I knew it would be anything but good. So I had to get out of here. “Yes. I give you my word that no harm will come to him and I’ll ensure the surgery is a success,” he stated and I believed every word he said. But that didn’t mean I was willing to go with him. “Okay.” I nodded, hoping he believed me. “I—I’ll go with you.” A semblance of a smile curved one corner of his mouth and his eyes softened. “Good.” “But… I need to use the bathroom.” The so-called smile was instantly replaced by a frown. “You can use one at home.” “Ummm… I—it’s kind kind of urgent,” I said and pretended to be shy and looked away from him. He sighed. “Alright. You have ten minutes. And then we’re leaving,” he stated and I nodded before moving past the guards with ease. “I’ll be right back,” I said and took the left corridor. I could feel Adan’s eyes on me throughout but it wasn’t until I took another left did I feel free of him. And that’s when I decided to run. I found the emergency exit and opened the door, glad to find it open before throwing myself inside. The metal door clanged sharply behind me but I didn’t care. I could’ve chosen to walk out of the front entrance but Adan might’ve had his guards stationed outside so I couldn’t take the risk. I took the stairs as fast as I could as if Adan was chasing me rather than waiting patiently for me until I came to the door which marked my freedom. I hoped to God that it was unlocked before pulling it open, only to come face to face with the man I’d been running away from. Adan stood in front of me with thunder crackling in his eyes. I thought he would say something but the fear that exploded inside me didn’t give me the chance to wait and listen to a word from him. I immediately turned around and tried to climb back up the stairs when strong arms locked around my waist and I was slammed back into a hard chest. “That’s enough,” Adan commanded in my ear but my body seemed to adopt a mind of its own as it began struggling against him. I knew what I was doing was utterly stupid but I couldn’t stop. My limbs flailed uselessly against his strength as he carried me out of the hospital and pinned me against the wall. “It looks like your wings need to be clipped, Angel.” “No!” I screamed and tried to push him away but it was like trying to move a mountain. He easily kept me pinned and I knew he was barely using any force because if he did he could easily break me in half. “Calm down, beautiful. I really don’t want to hurt you,” he said but my mind refused to acknowledge let alone comprehend his words. I continued to scream and struggle against him, surprised that no one was coming to help me. I knew I was in some serious trouble with my Master and I just wanted someone to come and save me from him. “Let me go!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. My throat ached with all the screaming but I didn’t give up. Adan locked me in place by pinning me with his thighs and using his hand to pin my wrists above my head. It surprised me how big his hand was that it easily captured both of my wrists, but the realization soon gave way to terror so intense I thought my heart would stop. “Letting you go was never an option, Angel. It was foolish of you to think it was,” he replied and I thought I saw him slip his free hand in the pocket of his slacks. I had no idea what he was talking about and I didn’t care. I just wanted to leave and pretend he didn’t own me. I didn’t even know why I was behaving this way. I’d never disobeyed him before. He never asked you to go against your morals before either. “You can stop fighting,” he said in an eerily calm tone, as if I wasn’t struggling against him with all my might. “You’ll only tire yourself out.” I wanted to tell him to shove his orders up his ass but years of conditioning forced me to keep my tongue in check. But I managed to ignore him once again and tried to kick him but my feet only met air. “Please just…” I choked on my own saliva. “Please just let me go.” “That’s not something I’m capable of doing,” he said before I felt a sharp prick on the side of my neck. My eyes flew open and my jaw fell slack as he injected me with something before pulling the needle out of my neck. Immediately my limbs began to get heavy and soon I felt a strange disconnect with my body. I tried to fight back but my body refused to cooperate. It felt like I was dying with the way my senses began to shut down one by one until all I could focus on was Adan but that didn’t last long either. His form began to blur and stars began to darken my vision. Just as I began to lose consciousness I felt Adan’s arms wrap around me and his warm chest was the last thing I felt before oblivion swept me away. ~*~*~*~* I woke up in a room which looked fit for a king with a huge four poster bed and luxurious bedding which would make my cousins green with envy. The mattress was like a cloud and the duvet covering me up to my chin was the softest I’d ever come across. Pushing the duvet aside I sat up and took in the giant chandelier which hung from the ceiling at the foot of the bed. Intricate fixtures and scones dotted the walls and I noticed a sofa set next to the window and a flat screen facing me. However, my head immediately started to feel heavy and I looked around for a glass of water and found it on the nightstand with a crystal coaster on top of it. The realization that Adan drugged me flashed in my mind and I eyed the glass of water with suspicion. But my throat was screaming for relief so I removed the coaster and picked up the glass with both hands. The first sip of the water had me sighing in relief and I gulped down the rest of it without pause. I set the glass down and looked for another but there was nothing else for me. I could feel the fog lifting from my mind as the water rejuvenated the cells in my body. But before I could think about looking for an escape the door of the room opened and my Master walked in, looking very much like the king he thought he was, if his room was anything to go by. I tracked his movements as he came to a stop in front of me. My grip on the duvet tightened, fearing the worst. “Ma—Master,” I said and shuffled back in an attempt to create some distance between us. But I knew there was no way I was leaving this room until he gave me explicit permission to do so. “Three months,” he said all of a sudden, his green eyes never wavering from mine. “Pa—Pardon?” I probably should’ve kept my mouth shut because the words which left his lips had my world exploding into chaos. “In three months I’ll make you fall in love with me.”
