It became incredibly difficult for me to finish my food because Adan refused to leave me alone. He sat there and watched me eat. I even tried to put the plate aside as an act of rebellion but one look from him had me picking the plate back and finishing my meal. The man was nerve wrecking and I couldn’t believe he wanted me to fall in love with him. How could he expect that to happen when he was my Master? That fact would always overshadow everything in our relationship, if he even wanted one in the first place. Once I finished eating Adan pressed on the button that Dina left me and after exactly a minute there was a knock on the door. Dina entered after Adan gave her the permission and took the cart away and I was left alone with him staring at me. “What?” I asked when his green eyes refused to leave my face to the point where I started to feel uncomfortable. “Would you like a tour of the house?” He asked as he studied me. I knew that’s exactly what he was doing. I could feel him dissecting my thoughts as if it was his favorite thing to do. Had he always looked at me like this or was it because he finally planned to make me his? “I just want to see my room. I—I’m tired and just want to rest,” I lied. The truth was I just wanted to be away from him and look for a way to get out of here. Was it possible for me to change my name and move to another country? Absolutely not. I already knew that but I wish there was a possibility of me starting over. But with Adan being my Master, there was nowhere I could go where he couldn’t find me. The man had way too much power where my family and I were concerned. He got up from he was sitting on an armchair and I gulped. “You’re already in your room. And that’s not the answer to my question.” Now it was my turn to stand up and face him. “This is not my room. This is your room. I’m sure my room wouldn’t be this big.” “You’ll sleep where I want you to sleep. And I want you to sleep in my bed,” he said. “I’m not—” I started to say but he cut me off with a sharp look. “You will.” He ate the distance between us until I forgot how to breathe due to the lack of distance between us. “You will sleep in my bed and nowhere else. This is your room so get used to living here. Now, do you want a tour of the house or not?” I ground my teeth to stop myself from screaming in frustration before shaking my head. “No Master. I do not want a tour of the house.” “Wrong answer,” he said before grabbing my hand and dragging me towards the door. “You’re in need of fresh air and I’ll ensure you get it.” “How is giving me a tour of the house going to accomplish that? Fresh air is outside and I doubt I’ll be able to breathe with you invading my personal space,” I snapped and immediately regretted it when his green eyes flashed in warning. “Watch that mouth of yours, Angel, or I’ll have no choice but to find other uses for it,” he stated and walked out of the room with me behind him. It took him over an hour to show me around. The Diamandis mansion had way too many rooms and for some f****d up reason his Grandfather wanted to expand. That was the latest rumor I heard from my cousin before I ended up here. Adan showed me the library and the game room. There was a gym and a swimming pool and a dining room on every level. “This is the Conference Room,” Adan said and opened the door. I immediately froze when I noticed the difference between this room and the others. Every other room I saw was empty but this one wasn’t. All of Adan’s cousins sat around a long glass topped table and their eyes immediately turned to me upon entering. “Yo—your cousins are here,” I murmured in the softest voice I could muster. Adan gave me a matter of fact smile. “Yes.” “You finally decided to bring her here,” said Ryan, or was it Kalen? I didn’t remember who was who, just that they were all dangerous and it was best to stay away from them. “It’s about time, I have to say.” This came from Colton as his piercing gaze took me in. “Hello Evie.” “He—hell—” I couldn’t finish because Adan squeezed my hand hard enough to make me wince. “Did I give you permission to talk to another man?” He asked in a whisper and I glared at him before shaking my head. “Then keep your mouth shut until I say otherwise.” “I’m just showing her around,” Adan said to his cousins who nodded as if it was the most normal thing to do. “Have you showed her that room?” Colton asked with a dark gleam in his violet eyes. I’d never seen eyes that color before and I almost wondered if he was wearing contacts. A smirk danced in the corner of Adan’s mouth. “Not yet. She just got here. She needs to earn her way to it,” he said and caressed the underside of my wrist with his thumb, causing sparks of electricity shooting up my arm. I didn’t know whether to focus on the sensation he was conjuring inside me, or to focus on the conversation he was having with his cousins. What room was he talking about? And how would I need to earn the right to go there? “Do you think she will?” Colton asked. “I’m sure she will,” Adan answered and gave his cousins a once over. “Alright. I’ll see you all later.” He closed the door and dragged me away from the Conference Room. I looked around, taking in the insane number of chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and the antique light fixtures and scones on the walls. This house was a beautiful blend of new and old and I couldn’t believe I’d be living here. As much as I wanted to run away, I knew Adan would keep me wherever he desired. “What room were they talking about?” I asked. “You don’t need to worry about that yet,” he answered. “You said I have to earn my way to it. What do I have to do for that?” I questioned, hoping he would give me something to work with. I wanted to know what he was hiding from me. “That’s something your behavior will decide,” he answered cryptically before we arrived at a staircase which seemed to go on for miles. Seriously who in the world would even design such a crazy thing. I gulped when Adan started taking the stairs and I had no choice but to follow along. “When will this tour come to an end?” “This is the last bit. Don’t worry, I know you’re tired and I’ll put you to bed soon. But you need to see this,” he said and I was instantly curious. By the time we reached the landing of the floor my legs were screaming in protest and I noticed the staircase continued to spiral upwards but we had stopped here. Thank God for that. Adan started walking and took a single left turn before we came to a stop in front of the only door in the corridor. “Is that it? This is the small level,” I commented, looking around for any other door, but there was nothing else here. “And kind of creepy.” Adan’s eyes pinned me in place. “This is the room Colton was talking about. This is the room you’ll get access to based on your behavior.” “Good behavior or bad?” The smile he gave me turned my heart to frost. “That’s something you’ll have to figure out on your own. I won’t help you there. You’ll just have to wait and find out.” I eyed the door with skepticism and tried to imagine everything possible for what could be behind it. Was it a torture chamber? It had to be considering its location. I doubt anyone even came here, but why would Adan build a separate torture chamber when the third basement was dedicated to dungeons. He could do whatever he wanted, it wasn’t like he would have to face any sort of consequences. He could kill me and the world wouldn’t bat an eyelash. Perhaps the room wasn’t built for punishment but a place where I could relax. Maybe my Master built a personal sanctuary for me and anytime I felt overwhelmed by the world I could come here and relax. But judging by his recent actions, I knew Adan was too selfish to leave me alone, even if it was only for a few minutes. So letting me have a private sanctuary was out of his level of comprehension. At least, that’s what I thought. “And we have come to the end of the tour,” he announced and I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. “I’m sure I’ll get lost,” I admitted, causing him to chuckle. “You won’t. You’re smarter than you give yourself credit for,” he said. “Is this room locked?” I asked and without waiting for his response, I stepped forward and turned the knob. But when the door didn’t budge I sighed and let go. “Never mind.” “The room will be unlocked when I want,” he said and I bit back a huff of frustration. “Now come on, it’s time to put you to bed.” “I’m not tired. I don’t want to sleep,” I told him. “I didn’t ask whether you’re tired or not,” he stated and quickly led me down the stairs and back to his room in his record time. I thought it would take forever to get back but it was as if he took a short cut or something. He closed the door and turned the lock as soon as we stepped inside and I immediately began looking for a place to spend the night. “I’ll take the couch. There’s no way I’m taking your bed. And since you’re my Master it’s only right that you sleep on the bed,” I said but I should’ve kept my mouth shut if his glare was anything to go by. “Here’s the thing,” he said as he c****d his head to the side. “You’re going to get in my bed, close your eyes and go to sleep. If you don’t, then I’ll have no choice but to put you there myself.” He paused, letting his words sink in. “The side effects of the drug haven’t worn off. You’ll experience another bout of fatigue in a just a few minutes if my calculations are correct, so if you continue to stand here and defy me, then I’ll have to carry you to bed because your body won’t be able to support you.” “What?” I gasped as the magnitude of his words sank in. Another bout of fatigue? I thought I was okay now but apparently not. “How long does it take to wear off?” “A minimum of forty eight hours. You’ll be in an out of exhaustion until then,” he answered and I wanted to smack him hard. “Yo—you’re…” I bit my lip so I didn’t end up hurling the slew of expletives which were sitting on the tip of my tongue. “Shh,” he said as he put a finger to his lip. “Get in bed. Now.” “I—I need something to change into,” I said, eyeing my clothes. “Wait here,” he said and disappeared behind a door which was next to the bathroom. He came out a moment later carrying a silk negligee hanging off a gold metal hanger and held it for me. “You can wear this.” “I’m not wearing that. It’s way too revealing,” I said eyeing the sheer material which would do nothing to hide me from him. All he did was arch an eyebrow before I sighed and took the garment from him. “I’ll be back.” My mind began shutting down the moment I stepped inside the dressing room to change. I could feel my thoughts slowing down which was followed by my limbs beginning to get heavy. I couldn’t believe how right he was. I was starting to feel tired and I hated him all the more for being the cause of it. There was no way I was falling in love with this man. When I got out Adan was standing right in front of me and without a word he scooped me up in his arms and began carrying me to his bed. I wanted to protest and tell him I didn’t need him to do anything for me, but my body refused to obey me. He rested his knee on the mattress before laying me down on the bed and pulling the duvet over me. I tried to fight the effects of the drug by keeping my eyes open but I was no match for it. I felt his fingers stroking my head until I slipped into semi consciousness. I vaguely heard a knock on the door before somebody stepped inside and then I heard snippets of conversation. I was sure if I was awake I would’ve understood what was going on, but these voice were the last thing I heard before darkness took me. “I heard she is here,” said a man with steel in his voice. “Hello Grandfather. You heard correctly. She is here. I just put her to sleep,” Adan said. “So is she the one?” “Of course she is. You’ve known it for years.” “So when are you planning on having the wedding?” “In less than three months.” “Good. I’ll make sure your house is ready by then.” “Thank you, Grandfather. I appreciate it.”
