Dominic’s POV: I look opposite me to Charlotte sipping on a beer as her eyes scan over the flames of the bonfire. We are at one of her friend’s house for drinks, apparently. After she greeted me, her friend Timothy walked in and dragged us both to the party. I am usually one for a good time, but I feel my soul shattering into pieces from the silence between my mate and me. She looks as awkward as I feel and I can smell the liquor burning through her. “I thought you don’t drink!” Timothy whines and my eyes dart to Charlotte, who gulps down the last of her beverage. “I don’t, but today I needed to let off steam.” Charlotte replies and my jaw clenches. She is only drinking because I have caused her bitterness. I can see it swimming in the very essence of her gaze as she looks at me. “
