Chapter Seven

“Well hello there,” Fia smiled at the girl. “I take it you are Sophia.” The young girl gasped and looked around before whispering. “How do you know my name? Do you have magical powers? Does it come with taking the oath? Grandma says ye are powerful wolves but I didn’t think ye were magic.” Her eyes wide as she struggles to say the last few words before placing her mask back over her face and taking a big gulp of air. Poppy’s eyes widened as she looked between the two. Clearly she was questioning what the girl had said. Fia smiled but shook her head. “No magical powers here, We were called to assist you with your respiratory issues.” Sophias eyes suddenly lowered, clearly disappointed. “You don’t have to try anything.” Her voice now quiet as she lifted the mask. “I know how it will end so you don’t have to try.” Fias smiled weakly at the girl, shooting a look at Poppy to go comfort her. Poppy nodded and moved next to Sophia placing her hand on her shoulder and smiling. “Fia is one of our best healers,” she said “if there is any way to help you, I’m sure she will do everything in her power to help.”  Sophia looked between the two of them and sighed, “I will make a deal with you then.” She raised her head as a mischievous grin played on her lips. “I will let you try all of your healing techniques on me but for every day you work on trying to better my breathing.... you can’t reject my dad.”  Fias eyes opened wide at her calling her mate dad. She mulled over the thought of another woman before her and her wolf growled internally in jealousy. She needed to stay calm and not stress out this girls state. She would have to accept that they both lived independent lives before they met and all they need to think about now was the future. “Reject?” Poppy questioned curiously. “Fia doesn’t feel the bond and is promised to the moon goddess... she can’t give your dad what he wants.” She turned her head to Fia to get confirmation but stopped as she saw an internal fight breaking out in Fias head. Poppy was right but she couldn’t help to think of what the moon goddess wanted of her, to steer away from the path. She needed some wise words and knew the only person who could help was her own mentor, the head of the Luna Senator, Abigale White....  “I will need to think on your offer Young one” Fia spoke as she turned to Poppy’s open mouth. “Can you get my phone?” She asked her calmly, “I need to update our leader.” Poppy nodded before letting go of Sophia’s shoulder and walking out the door. “Is what she said true?” Sophia asked, “worry in her eyes.  “Normally yes, but something is going on right now and I need to speak with our leader. If i can uphold your request I will accept for now but before I can say anything, I need to speak with our equivalent to an Alpha. Once all is clear I will come back with a responce. “Can you wait?” She asked looking at Sophias face. She nodded slowly. “Let’s solve one issue at a time Sophia” Fias eyes softening. “Hopefully it will be the right path and we also improve your recovery in the meantime.”  Sophia smiled as she relaxed back on the bed. “I’ll leave it to you for now so.” She mused, her eyes clearly heavy as all that talking must be causing fatigue.“Rest Young one” Fia smiled at her as she put her mask back on before letting sleep take her. Poppy came in with her phone, “Time to face the music” she sighed as she took it and pressed speed dial. This was going to be a long chat.”
