Chapter Ten

N.B: Please note that the medical treatment in this episode is not what you should normally do when treating a person convulsing. You should never touch or place anything in a persons mouth while they are having a seizure unless they are standing and you catch them from falling and injuring themselves further. Only when the seizure passes should you lay them in the recovery position and make them feel comfortable.     “Poppy! I need eucalyptus and tea tree with lavender essence and lemon. We need to clear her air ways and ensure to keep calm once this episode runs its course. I also want you to find mint, garlic, honey and ginger. I need it now so RUN!” Fia jumped from the bed, ignoring her ointments and moved next to the convulsing Sophia. “May I?” she asked the medics around her who nodded, stepping back enough for her to move but monitor their patient if anything took a serious turn. Moving next to Sophia, she lay next to her, their skin touching and Fia taking a breath as she laid her on side to wrap her arms loosely around Sophias back so she could move freely. Taking a deep breath in, she summoned her wolf and felt the connection between them link immediately.    After a moment of silence, Sophias body relaxed as her breathing went back to normal. Fia held her a little closer as the two seemed to share a moment. When Fia felt comfortable that her body was settled, she went to release her but she felt Sophias hands grabbing hers, pinning her to stay in her position. Sighing, she whispered, “Sophia, can you hear me?” Sophia moaned slightly as she nodded.    “Can you open your eyes?” Fia continued, as Poppy came in with the necessary materials. “My eyes burn in the light so I keep them shut. Nothing else feels sore or hurts. If I keep the closed for an extra minute or two, I should be fine.” Fia nodded, noticing that Sophia seemed to know the drill before looking at Poppy and gesturing with her head to place the materials on the table next to her bed.    “I felt it you know,” Sophia said, her body relaxing into Fias. “I always feel like I’m in a fog, that my wolf cries to me to find her so we can be reunited. When the seizures happen, it’s because my wolf is upset that she can’t find me. I worry about her, her soul is lost and we cannot link.” Sophia’s hands squeeze Fias arms. “I’m afraid… that I will never shift… that I’ll die and leave dad behind…. That he will reject me when he realises how useless I am,” her voice cracking as she spoke.    “He won’t reject you Sophia.” Fia whispered, pulling her in closer. “We will find your wolf together. I bet she will be as strong willed as you are and will be a fierce pack member. My wolf can sense her inside of you and she knows that soon, you will be reunited.” Fias eyes softened as she felt Sophia turn over to face her and bury her body into Fias. “You… promise?” Sophia sobbed. “Mmmhhmmm, now less of these tears, your face is too pretty to be splotchy.” Fia smiled as she stroked her back softly.    Just as Sophia stopped crying and Fia instructed Poppy to create and set up a stream to settle her irritated lungs, the door barged opened and there he was, drenched in sweat, wearing nothing but a pair of loose shorts. Fia felt her heart pound and her breath leave her as his eyes widened, taking in the view of her comforting his daughter. “Sophia… what happened?”
