Chapter Five

1049 Words
As the wind continued to howl and the rain soaked through their coats, the wolves continued to follow the tanned wolf to the edge of their boarder. Within minutes a third grey wolf with emerald green eyes joined them, ready to follow his Alphas commands. “Should we not be wary of this being a trap?” Peter, their Delta mindlinked. “No one knew that that the Luna Senator were coming except you three and my parents.” Alex said. “Even if it’s a trap, we can call for aid, I’ve already contacted our warriors and they are five minutes out.”  As one of the other wolves was about to respond, Alex became aware of a new scent up ahead, it was a strong smell of lavender. His pupils dilated as his pace picked up. There was no way this was happening again, he would have to put a stop to it the second they were out of trouble.  As the scent grew stronger, another familiar scent took over. Blood... something was bleeding ahead and Alex’s wolf was furious. As they breached their border and made it to a clearing, they had but a second to take in the new scene. Black and brown wolves were surrounding a black wolf who had just collapsed onto the ground. Her right flank was bleeding and a silver liquid oozed out. His vision turned red and he made his way to the closest wolf to attack, jumping over the female and sinking his fangs into their neck. The wolf unaware of his attacker didn’t have a moment to react and let out a grunt before he became dead weight. His eyes turned to a chocolate wolf who was getting ready to attack the tanned wolf and intercepted. Alex pounced on him and hearing a snap near his shoulder blades. The enemy wolf howled in pain and turned to face his new attacker. As he turned his head, Alex saw a weak spot emerge and went down on him, snapping his neck in a matter of seconds.  Looking up, Alex felt a pair of claws run down his back as a small grey wolf jumped him from behind. He growled and shook it off, causing it to hit the ground hard. He turned to face the wolf but before he could give the final blow, he heard the tanned wolf howl and looked up to see her lift a now unconscious black haired female on her back. She looked at the alpha and began to take off into the woods. A snarl erupted from Alex’s throat as he took off after the tanned wolf, his instincts on red alert. As the smell of blood lay behind them, Alex continued to Follow closely behind the tanned wolf. Every so often, he would observe her raising her head and sniffing the air. What was she looking for? They continued on until they crossed the boarder and came to a moon lit lake. Wild flowers and herbs grew around them, filling the air with nature’s best scents and sights. The rain had calmed down slightly, with a few clouds separating and welcoming the view of the full moon. The tanned wolf carefully placed the woman onto the ground next to the waters edge before turning herself and placing her body under water.  Alex shifted quickly and moved next to her, “what is it?” He asked the girl, her eyes focusing on the water turning red from the blood oozing from her right hip. “Wolfsbane,” the teen said, not looking at Alex. “They say the moon provides properties to clear the system so I thought I would place her here while I look for the antidote. Her bright blue eyes looking at Alex for a second before she realised who it was andm blushed. “Umm,” her cheeks turned a deep red, “do you not need to check on your pack?” She asked curiously. “They are fine,” Alex said, now realising that they were all naked. “They would mind link if there was a need for me.” The teen looked back at the most beautiful creature he had laid eyes on. Her raven hair although messy from the fight and transport was gleaming under the moon, her porcelain skin, which was clear of any blemishes made her look like an angel. Her body had feminine features, an hour glass figure with curves in all the right places. A tattoo of a crescent moon that is shaded in with blue, pink, purple and red watercolour blotches lay right where her heart was, symbolising her promise to the moon goddess.  Seeing this brought Alex back to reality. He stood up and mind linked Logan for an update. The rogues were dead with one alive to interrogate. He asked for clothing to be brought to where they were before looking back to see the young teen at work. Taking samples and cuttings of all the plants before going to her mentor place different mixtures on her wound. When lifted up, he saw scratches on her back making him growl once more. The teen turned in fear at the sound but Alex waved it off. He needed to clear his head. Within ten minutes, Logan and Peter came carrying two over sized T-shirt’s for the girls and a pair of sport shorts for Alex. Once, dressed Alex saw Logan offer to carry the unconscious female. Alex snarled and before anyone could react, he had picked her up himself and began to carry her back. With every touch, he felt his skin heat up with a soft buzzing feeling light up in his chest. His wolf was happy as it clung to her essence, it had been ten years since he felt this last. As he continued to walk, Logan caught up and looked at him with a strange look, “well f**k,” he said, a slight smile creeping on his lips, “she does have a sense of humour.” Alex shot him a look, “who?” He huffed, not quite sure who would be laughing. “The moon goddess of course!” Logan grinned as he continued on, “a second mate, you lucky bastard!”  A growl erupted from Alex’s chest as he stiffened up, causing the woman to groan with the sudden change, “shut up!” He whispered as he looked at the woman in worry. “We’re no such thing.”
