With Lazlo gone, I was able to focus on my list of potions tasks. I joined the family for meals, Gwen came to visit me a few times, but I was mostly alone with my work and thoughts. Gran had sent me a note checking on me.
There still had been no sign of Lazlo or his father at breakfast or lunch on the third day. I was beginning to wonder if he’d really be back when I felt a note in my pocket.
