He chose to be an heir. She chose to survive without him.

Three years ago, Clifford left Eve in a warehouse with blood on his hands.

Now she’s in Lisbon. Broken. Alone. Haunted by his voice in the rain.

He’s watching. From the shadows. From the river. From across a warm loaf of bread.

“Everyone lies,” she says.

“Especially me,” he thinks.

Because to keep her alive, he has to let her hate him.

He’s a mafia heir. She’s his secret. And secrets get people killed.

Episode1:SheDoesntRememberMe
Palermo, Sicily. Rain on cobblestone. The warehouse was dead. No lights. Just broken windows and the smell of rust, gunpowder, and blood. Water dripped from the ceiling in a slow rhythm. One. Two. Three. Clifford Moretti was supposed to die that night. Three guns. Three men. All of them worked for Don Moretti. His uncle. His blood. They had him on his knees. Hands zip-tied behind his back. Coat torn. Lip split. Rain dripping from the broken roof onto the back of his neck. Cold. “Last words, boy?” one of them asked. He was smiling. Clifford didn’t answer. He was counting. The distance to the door. The weight of the gun on the man’s hip. The seconds before they pulled the triggers. Don’s orders were clear. “Make it messy. Make it a message.” Clifford closed his eyes. This was how Morettis died. Then he heard her. Soft footsteps. Barely there under the rain. A shadow moved in the broken doorway. Small. Fast. A girl in a dark hoodie. Water running off her. She looked 19, maybe 20. Thin. But her eyes— Grey. Fierce. Alive. She didn’t scream. She didn’t freeze. She moved like someone who had been running her whole life. One of the men turned. “Who the hell—” She didn’t let him finish. A brick from the floor. Fast. Hard. Right to his temple. He dropped. The second man raised his gun. She was already behind him. A knife. Not big. Just enough. She cut the zip tie on Clifford’s wrists. “Go,” she hissed. Clifford stared at her. “What—” “Don’t die,” she said in his ear. Her breath was warm against his skin despite the cold. “No one ever looked for me.” Her hand clamped around his wrist. Her fingers were freezing. She dragged him up. The third man fired. The bullet hit the wall behind them. Dust and concrete. She pulled him through a hole in the wall they’d made for smuggling. Into the alley. Into the rain. Sirens started behind them. Distant. Getting closer. She didn’t speak again. She just ran. Her hoodie was soaked. Her boots were loud on the cobblestone. Clifford could run. He was trained to run. But he didn’t let go of her hand. They turned. Twice. Three times. Alley. Alley. Dead end. She didn’t stop. She shoved a crate aside. There was another hole. Smaller. “Through,” she ordered. He went first. Pulled her after. They came out into a narrow street. Empty. She stopped. Finally. Her chest was heaving. Rain ran down her face. She pushed her hood back one inch. He never saw her face. Only her eyes. Grey. Fierce. Alive. She looked at him like she was measuring if he was worth the risk. Then she nodded once. At the end of the alley, she shoved him into a doorway. A shop that was closed for the night. “Stay,” she whispered. “Don’t move. Don’t breathe.” He opened his mouth to ask her name. She put a finger to his lips. “Shh.” Footsteps. Boots. Men running past the alley. Shouting in Italian. She didn’t flinch. Her hand was still on his chest. To keep him still. To keep him quiet. Her heart was beating fast. He could feel it through her palm. The footsteps faded. She exhaled. Then she looked up at him one last time. No name. No thank you. No goodbye. She vanished. Into the rain. Into the dark. Gone. Like smoke. Clifford stayed in that doorway for a long time. Rain on his face. Her handprint still warm on his chest. A girl in a hoodie. No face. Only her eyes. Grey. Fierce. Alive. He never forgot.
