A few days had gone by since I seen Issac and he told me his secret. He wasn’t in school for a few days. I kept thinking about what he told me. What he showed me. I wasn’t sure I believed it completely. Sleepy hallow had such a cold eerie feel to it that I felt the day we moved here. My Father had laughed when I said that in the car. “Welcome to Maine dear.” He had said laughing at the time. Now I know why I felt that way. I always had a talent for finding weird things I probably shouldn’t. This was a new one though. Even for me. All week I kept thinking about what he said about his family and their secret. Vampires. Real life vampires right here in Maine and in control of the town. I had asked around some other people I seen like the cashier at the grocery store what they knew about the family. Everyone seemed to have the same answer. Which wasn’t much. No one seemed to know a single thing about them except for them being the oldest family around and they had a lot of money. I could have guessed that part based off their absolutely huge house. Part of me was glad I didn’t see Issac. I never answered his question if I was afraid or not. I wasn’t sure of the answer honesty and when I didn’t answer him he had left without saying anything else. I couldn’t get the image of him out of my head. The way his eyes seemed to almost glow, his sharp fangs. I also though about his face and how beautiful I still thought it was and his warm touch on my thigh where he had his hand resting. My face started to turn a little red as I stared at my note book trying to focus on the history lesson. My head was so confused that focusing was pointless. I needed to know more information. I knew I should probably be afraid of him after what I saw him do and then him showing me what he really was. But for some strange reason I wasnt. In fact I felt even more drawn to him. When the last bell rang I decided I was going to go to the library to try and see if I could find anything about his family or even vampires. This is so crazy. I thought to myself as I walked there. The wind was blowing making the already cold air even colder. I pulled my jacket around me tighter. Tucking my hair behind my ear trying to keep it out of my face. It was a bit of a far walk from the high school. By the time I got there I felt frozen. The library was a large old looking building that looked almost abandoned from the outside. Inside was a different story. Once I stepped inside I was amazed at how large the building was and how modern looking compared to the rest of the town. It had both a down stairs and an upstairs. When you first walk in you are standing on the second floor of the library at the top of a stair case. Even for a library I had never seen so many rows of books before. It was truly amazing. It took my a while but I found the section that contained old news papers and ledgers about the town. I pulled a few of them off the shelf’s taking a seat behind a row of shelf’s in the back as I sat down to read. I read everything I could front to back. Not finding a whole lot. What I did find was very interesting though. I did find that the town was founded in the late 1800’s. Some of the oldest family’s came from Bulgaria. Over the centuries there have also been many disturbing animal attacks and disappearances. Some of the articles I read claimed Sleepy hallow was cursed. All the disappearances and attacks all fell on full moons. I put all the items I had back in their places and started to see if I could find anything on vampires. A lot of what I found were just the usual books and stories. I needed something with some type of facts to it. Eventually I made my way to the methodical section. I found a few containing folklore and myths. It was getting late so I checked them out and decided to take them home with me. When I stepped outside I realized it t was getting late. I started my walk home and kept thinking about everything. More specifically I kept thinking about Issac. I wondered where he was and what he was doing. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and thought about texting him but then changed my mind. I finally made it home and went to my room. I was use to coming home alone. My dad worked in one of the old factory’s and worked long hours. I hardly ever seen him. I took the books up to my room and sat them down on my bed looking at them for a moment. I let out a sigh and laid down. Every time I closed my eyes I couldn’t get him out of my mind. I wasn’t even sure why at this point. I just really wanted to be around him. I must be losing my mind i thought. I picked my phone up and against my better judgement I messaged him telling him I wanted to see him. I waited a while and when I didn’t hear anything back I rolled over and slowly fell asleep.
Slowly he opened her window and climbed in. He stood at the foot of her bed looking at her sleeping so peacefully. He sat at the edge of her bed next to her. Some of her hair had fallen over her face. Gently he brushed it off tucking it behind her ear as she slept. A small smile formed on her lips and he smiled to himself a little. He seen the books laying next to her and he picked one up. Seeing what it was he laid it back down and looked at her curiously. He pulled a white rose encased in resin out of his pocket and set it on her desk. He turned to climb back out the window into the night. Before he did he turned back around and leaned over her. Kissing her lips gently before returning to the night outside.
When I woke up the next morning I kept thinking about the dream I had as I got ready for school. There really must be something wrong with me I thought. I finally finished getting ready pulling on a black skirt with thigh high black socks and a light blue long sleeve shirt on. The dream felt so real. That kiss felt real I thought as I touched my lips with my fingers closing my eyes for a moment. It was a dream wasn’t it? I grabbed my bag and phone and was about to walk out my door when I remembered I needed my notebook off my desk. I walked over picking it up and putting it in my bag. As I started to turn away I noticed the white rose encased in resin sitting on my desk. I picked it up looking at it. It was so beautiful and that’s when I realized maybe I hadn’t dreamt about him at all as my heart skipped a beat. I placed the rose in my bag. I looked at myself in the mirror and seen that once again my cheeks were turning red. I started my walk to school and decided to check my phone. Issac had text me back last night after I had fallen asleep. I kept reading the message and thinking about what possibly happened last night. All it said was
See you real soon
I continued my walk to school. At least it had stopped raining today. Although it seemed that it might start soon. It was getting colder and soon this rain would turn to snow. I wasn’t sure which one I hated more. As I walked I could hear the sound of a motorcycle getting closer. I looked over my shoulder as it got closer. The man riding the bike was wearing black ripped jeans and a black shirt under his black leather jacket. His face covered by his helmet. He pulled up next to me and took it off. I could help but smile a little as Issac said “want a ride princess?” I nodded as he reached out a hand to steady me as I climbed on behind him. He put his helmet on my head and wrapped both my arms around his waist. “Just hold on to me tightly.” He said in a smooth voice. I did as he said. I could feel his muscles under his shirt. I was thankful for the dark helmet as I was sure my face was dark red. I help on as he took off going fast weaving in and out of traffic. I held on tightly and laughed a little. Once he looked over his shoulder back at me with those deep blue eyes and smirked before going even faster. I enjoyed every second of the ride. I would be lying if I had said I was glad it was over when we finally got to the school. He parked the bike and helped me off of it taking his helmet off for me and brushed my hair out of my face. We stood there for a moment with his hand on my cheek looking at each other. As always my face turned red and I looked away first.
“So um, you have a bike to?” I asked kind of awkwardly. He chuckled a little.
“I’ll take you for a ride when ever you want.” I blushed even more and looked back at him with a shy smile. He took my bag from me tossing it over his shoulder with one hand and grabbing my hand with his other leading me into the school. All day he waited for me in between classes. Walking me to each one and then carrying my books for me. I didn’t understand where this sudden change in Behavior came from but I honestly didn’t mind. For once, it felt like I had something to look forward to. And secretly I didn’t want it to end.
