Four months after the wedding
Teddy’s POV
“Push Melody! You’ve got this!” My wife was in front of me on the bed, the pack doctor and his staff scurrying around as the pup made it difficult for Melody.
“That’s it Misses Bells… One more big push!” The doctor had ahold of the pup’s head, ready to catch the baby when Melody’s done pushing.
“Ahhh!” Melody screamed as she finally pushed one last time, the pup coming free. The doctor passed the pup onto Melody’s chest, a cry ringing out from the small newborn.
“Time of birth, October thirty first, twelve a.m. on the nose.” Nurse Jude wrote it down, others starting to clean everything up as the pup nuzzled onto Melody. “Congratulations, my King and Queen. It’s a healthy female!”
“A female?!” I looked at the small pup and Melody, grinning ear to ear.
“We have a female.” Melody smiled as the pup began to mew and nuzzle at her already. There was a shocking amount of hair already on the little head, my color of black.
Nurse Jude reached out for the baby from Melody, taking her to clean her up quickly. “Oh, my pups are gonna love spoiling you little one!” She smiled as she took the pup over to the wash area.
I took Melody’s hand and smiled. She was still covered in sweat from the intense labor, but my little baker was a warrior. The twenty four hours of labor she was in brought about one of the most beautiful pups I had ever seen. “Way to go, mama.” I kissed her forehead, Melody sighing and leaning into me.
“Here you are, Teddy, your beautiful little female.” Jude handed her to me, leaving Melody and me alone for some privacy.
“Have you thought of a name?” I asked her, unsure. We had been debating on names ever since she had told me we were expecting again.
“Lucy. I think Lucy will be it.” She smiled at the pup and me. “Lucy Urcina Bells.”
“Get some rest, my little baker.” I kissed the top of her head again, the baby starting to fuss. “I’ll let the doctor know.” Almost as soon as I said that, she started to drift off, making me smile. My little baker is a fighter. I squeezed her hand with pride and put the baby down in the bassinet beside her, both baby and Melody being tired from the whole ordeal.
I gently closed the hospital room door behind me, keeping my eyes on them for every second I could. When the door was closed all the way, I smiled to myself and started to walk to the doctor’s office in excitement at being a father for a second time. “Doc, we have a name picked out for her.” I saw my pack doctor come out of his office before I could open it, a grim expression on his face.
“My King; it turns out that the Rogue’s have attacked again while we all have been occupied with the delivery. I’ll go and fill out this paperwork with the Queen to officially name your daughter, but they are requesting your aid as soon as possible. You may want to open your link to your beta too; he has some news that doesn’t sound too good.”
I went running at that, doing just what the doctor told me to do as I picked up my pace. ‘-and then I’m going to shove the other leg up your ass and use you like a puppet if you continue to block me.’ Axel was cussing up a storm at me, having caught him mid rant for blocking him out through the link.
‘Axel; I’m here, what’s up.’
‘f*****g Rogues is what! I tell you man, they are becoming more organized now, something has them bothered.’
‘f*****g great! Where are you?!’
‘The north near the Canadian side. They took up a page from Black Haven to try and used boats to sneak in!’
Rogues had been a major problem since the battle of Black Haven over a year ago, making my life and Melody’s Hell from time to time. It was as if as soon as we were claimed King and Queen, something had gotten to the normally calm rogue population and had turned them into a fighting force to be reconned with; marking any success we had with shutting down the old order getting marked with a battle of rogues as well. We were tired of it up the this point, the rogues not really doing any major damage; but it seemed the were always testing us in some way.
‘Melody had a female by the way.’ I linked Axel, getting a cheer from him as I shifted and ran, trying to get to him faster..
‘Your father is on his way to see the baby, so hopefully nothing happens there at the hospital.’ Axel sounded worried, which made me apprehensive. He had a plan for everything, but this attack was unexpected for sure.
‘Alright, good.’ I acknowledged, knowing my dad was probably already on his way to the hospital wing to ask to hold Lucy. ‘I hope he lets Melody rest, he can see the baby tomorrow.’
She had enough on her plate as it was, especially since we wanted to do the ceremony as soon as possible to ask Nix about the rogues, needing answers for what seemed like a never ending problem. She had been helpful so far, but even a Goddess could only get so much involved in our mortals affairs.
‘Teddy, be safe.’ Melody linked me, making me put on another burst of speed to get this done and over with quickly, wanting to get back to my little baker and our new pup as soon as possible. ‘Wait… something’s not right..’ I halted in my steps then, dread filling me.
‘Fuckers. I think they were a diversion over here, they’re going back North!’ Axel sounded panicked then, a feeling of dread going through his link.
‘Teddy, get back here. There are some rogues in the hospital, the doctor is trying to fend them off with Jude!’ The desperation in my vulnerable mate’s voice shook me to my core, making me dash as if the devil himself was on my heals back to her.
