Melody’s POV
Teddy, be safe.’ I linked Teddy, the baby having woken me to eat. The baby was bustled against me now, her soft mews making me smile.
All the sudden, I saw a nurse run past and to the front of the building, the sound of something breaking and a scream following. “What in the world?” Maybe a resident is having a bad day. They did have some senile wolves here, so it made sense. Then two more nurses ran by, a guard following them as a shot rang out as well. “Fuckin-?!”
“Melody!” Jude burst into the door with the doctor right behind her, both of them shooting glances down the hall. “We need to get you somewhere safe!” She ran to the bed and started to unhook it, pushing it slightly to the door.
“f**k! They made it past! We haven’t the time to get her to the safe room. My Queen, we’ll have to hold them off while you stay in the restroom. Jude, get her in there now!” The doctor pulled the door closed and pulled the blinds down as he flipped off the lights.
“Sorry, Melody. Come on.” Jude helped me stand up from the bed and over to the restroom, setting me down in the shower as I saw the Doctor roll the bed in front of the door. “Do not unlock this door until we tell you it’s safe.” Jude flipped the latch before pulling it closed, a sound of pounding feet heading this way from the other side of the walls.
‘Teddy… something’s not right..’ I linked Teddy, dread filling me as a large bang was heard from the other side of the door.
“Rogues! They’re here!” Jude yelled out as the sound of snarling and gnashing teeth filled the small space, yelling and cussing ensuing as things were thrown against the bathroom door,
‘Love! You need to get back here. There are some rogues in the hospital, the doctor is trying to fend them off with Jude!’ How the bastards knew to attack now bothered me, my heart beating erratically as the sounds of fighting overshadowed my daughter’s soft breathing in my arms; a sharp contrast to what I envisioned for her birth. ‘Teddy, please hurry. I don’t think the doctor and Jude can hold them off much longer.’ I pleaded as I heard Jude scream after a shot rang out.
‘I’m almost there, my love… hold on; both of you.’ He sounded frantic, his voice cutting me deep through the line.
“Take that, Fuckers!” Jude yelled, something again hitting the bathroom door.
“Awooo!” A yell was cut off short as something gurgled and banged against the door, a pool of blood starting to form under it as the fighting continued.
“Shhhh… it’s gonna be fine, little Lucy… Shhhh, mommy’s here with you.” I cradled my newborn and tried to ignore the cramping my body was going through, my healing still wonky from giving birth. If they had done this in a couple of days, I would have been able to help them fight off the intruders.
But these rogues had chosen their timing perfectly, getting through our lines of defense and safety measures with ease. It had me getting paranoid with how well they were organized, making me think that the whole game of spying was happening all over again just like with Black Dawn.
“Come on, Teddy…” I prayed out loud, holding the baby closer to my chest. I wanted to fight, but there was no way I would be leaving my little girl defenseless during a battle. I had been practicing fighting too, now not as useless as I had been when I was kidnapped by Dominic.
Another thud happened on the door as the fighting continued, making my breath hitch as more blood flowed through. “f*****g bastards..” I grumbled, pulling my feet closer as the blood was starting to seep around me. I hadn’t felt this defenseless in a bit now, the therapy I’d been taking helping me open up more after the events of the last war. I had a feeling that this whole thing was gonna trigger my ptsd all over again.
All of the sudden though, a roar ripped through on the other side of the door, a deep baritone of a growl and a snarl joining in the fray. “Oh, God…” I didn’t recognized the animal, making me hope that whoever it happened to be was on our side.
Soon though, the fighting died off as the growls and snarls slowly died down, the room become eerily quiet on the other side of the door as another cramp tore through me, making me gasp. “Here, doc. Help me remove these from the door. Melody… it’s Alph- I mean dad. We’re coming in.”
I heard grunting and heaving as something, or someone, was moved out of the way of the bathroom door. “Are you alright, my Queen? Can you unlock the door?” The doctor asked.
“Sure, let me…” I tried to move, but the cramping took through me again. “Goddess… no… I-I can’t move.” I had almost dropped the baby while trying to get up, the blood on the floor feeling sticky and warm under me.
“Here… Melody, stay back.” I hear shuffling as Ted Two, as Axel called him, got further away. All of the sudden, the door was shoved off of its hinges, falling down beside me. “There’s the Queen; and my cute little grand baby.” Ted Two smiled at me as he stood naked as a jaybird in front of me.
“Thanks da-“ I was cut off as another cramp hit me, taking my breath with it. “Fuuuuck…. Take… baby…” I held Lucy out to him as I tried not to double over, my insides feeling like molten lava.
Ted Two scooped up the baby in an instant as the doctor pushed past with Jude. “What’s wrong, Melody?” Jude sat down in the blood next to me as the doctor took my vitals, the room spinning around me.
“I’m… cramping…” I gasped out, my vision starting to dot.
“f**k… doc; this isn’t the rogue’s blood.” Jude had pushed my legs aside as the room finally went dark and my consciousness drifted off.
‘Melody? Melody!’ Teddy tried to link me, but I was too tired to reply.
