I didn’t understand what Lukas was doing. He acted so strangely all of a sudden, but then I saw where he was headed, and I suddenly wasn’t so surprised by his actions. I sighed, shaking my head and feeling unsure if I should intervene, but Lukas wouldn’t attack Gabriel in the middle of the party, would he? But then I remembered Gabriel had done exactly that at the last party.
I began shifting my weight around, watching from afar as Lukas reached Gabriel. The hybrids stood around my third mate like a shield, ready to support him when needed, but Gabriel wasn’t scared of Lukas. He met the prince’s eyes, and Lukas leaned toward him.
