Chapter 26: The Rescue

Ameilly woke up in an unfamiliar white room. She sat down on the bed and ran her fingers through her hair, pulling the strands of it to lessen the pain in her head. A day had already passed since she willingly got inside the limousine with those people who had betrayed her and injected some liquid that she didn't even know what. But it was so strong that it made her sleep for a whole day. Realizing that she was alone in the room, she stood up and walked around. The room had no windows, there was nothing inside except the bed, a chair, the aircon on the wall, and the three cameras on each end of the ceiling. There was also a door leading to the room’s toilet. Ameilly sighed as she failed to open the main door of the room, leading her out. She didn’t even know where she was, but one thing’s for sure, it was Erren who had taken her there. She had already seen those faces from Emilly’s memories, and she was so sure about that, that was why she came so willingly and quietly with them. She was just not expecting to be locked up inside that kind of room where she was standing. Her cellphone was collected, even the handbag that she was using the day when they got her from the coffee shop was not anywhere to be found. She walked back towards the bed, and sat there. She can’t do anything, except to wait. That was what she was always doing back in their Kingdom - to wait while waiting for someone to come whenever she was kidn*pped. To wait for the people who would rescue her, or to wait for the people who had taken her and make a way for herself to get away from them, and for that moment, while she was seated on the bed, she was waiting for both to come. Minutes later, after doing nothing, the door of the room swung open. Ameilly waited silently for whoever would come from there, staring towards the door. “Babe, I’m glad you’re awake.” Erren stopped in front of her, and stared at her with a broad smile plastered on his face. He was with someone who was wearing a white lab gown, holding a stainless steel tray with something on it. Ameilly saw a syringe there and a small transparent bottle of another medicine that she didn’t know. “Why did you bring me here?” Ameilly stared back at him with her cold stares, raising her awareness and being much more attentive to her surroundings for whatever they might do towards her, like what they had done with her inside that car. “To run a test for you, babe. You’ve been acting strangely these past few days. I just need to check something because you might be sick.” “Just to run a test, you commanded them to inject something into me, huh? I was so willing to come on my own.” “I’m sorry about that babe, but it was just necessary to make sure that you wouldn’t try to run.” Ameilly wasn’t pleased about what he was saying, but she stayed still, looking up at him from the bed. She was observing him from his head to his toe, and from her position, she saw that he had his phone in the pocket behind his pants, and she was sure that the thing on his right waist, under his polo shirt, was a gun. “This is Doctor Hue, by the way. He will be the one to run the test on you.” Ameilly shifted her gaze to the man he had introduced. A doctor, who was wearing jeans and a polo shirt, under his white lab-coat, Ameilly, was so certain that he wasn’t there just to run a test on her. He didn't even have anything that he could use for the test, except for that bottle of medicine and a syringe. “What test are you going to do?” Ameilly was not even worried about anything, nor was she getting nervous of their presence. She just remained at her usual self, being well composed, seated on the edge of the bed, looking at them. “Everything, just to make sure you’re okay.” Ameilly chuckled, she couldn’t control herself not to react to that funny thing that he had just stated. “Alright. But, where is this place? There aren't even any windows.” “That’s normal for this room. It’s because we’re in a basement.” “Oh. A room in a basement.” Ameilly just nodded. “So, have you already found out what happened to your fifteen percent loss?” Ameilly grinned. It was so obvious that Erren didn’t want to hear that topic as he clenched his jaw as soon as Ameilly asked that. In the end, Erren couldn’t find any proof that it was her nor her family who did that to his company. There was no lead that could point out that it was Emilly's fault, and because of that, Erren just decided to get her out of his rage. "Not yet. Maybe soon." He suddenly loosened a bit, "but don't worry about that. As you said, I won't even die because of that. Let's just focus on your condition for now." He let out a smile that was so obvious to be a fake one, and Ameilly recognized it too. "Are we going to do the test here?" "No, Babe. We will transfer you to the lab later. But you need to take a gadolinium agent for the MRI scan first, and Doctor Hue will administer that." Ameilly didn't know what kind of medicine it was and even after hearing its name, she couldn't even remember it. "What if I don't want to take that?" Ameilly was just staring at that little bottle on the tray of Dr. Hue. She was too serious now, looking at that. "You need to take that Babe. It will help to enhance the quality of the MRI images." She didn't even know what an MRI test is, so she couldn't understand what he was saying. And she couldn't just trust anyone inside the room, especially Erren, who had already tried to kill his wife so many times already. She just stayed there, sitting, and wondering about what he was planning to do. "Let's start. Doctor Hue, you can now inject her with that." Erren stepped aside to give Dr. Hue some space to get beside Ameilly. "I don't want to receive that." She was so adamant that she would never take any dose of that medicine, whatever its purpose might be. "Emilly, don't be so stubborn." Dr. Hue had already filled the syringe with the liquid from the bottle, but Ameilly was still so persistent about her decision. Erren moved in her direction to hold her still. He held her right arm and extended it towards Dr. Hue, who was ready to inject it on her arm. But Ameilly moved fast even before Dr. Hue held her arm. She stood up fast beside Erren, and using her free hand, she successfully got the gun from his waist, and pulled back her arm from Erren. The two of them became so alert, and took a step backward, away from Ameilly as she pointed her gun towards them. "You don't even know how to properly inject that." Ameilly commented, as she picked up the bottle with her right hand from her bed. There was still a remaining liquid inside of it, and she slid it inside her pocket. "You don't even have any alcohol nor cotton to clean the area where you needed to inject that thing." Ameilly knew the process very well because she had already experienced that, way back from when she had first experienced living as Emilly. There were still no injections nor syringes in their Kingdom at the time she left the place again. "Don't move." Dr. Hue was about to reach for the door when Ameilly stopped her. He was startled because of that, as it was his first time seeing Ameilly, and experiencing her icy voice, and her chilly presence that was sending shivers to his spine. Ameilly glanced up towards the CCTV from behind the two, placed just on the edge of the walls behind the door. It was pointing at her direction and she knew that it was recording her, and the two inside the room. "Don't you have a better plan on how to get me, Erren? Your plans have been failing you." In a moment, the door of the room had swayed open so suddenly that it made them all look towards it. They weren't waiting for a visitor, but then people started to enter the room, wearing their black suits. "What are you doing?" Erren asked them as he watched them filling the room. Ameilly smirked when Yohann entered the room, holding two guns in his hands. "You're a little bit late." Ameilly commented, but her smirk vanished as soon as she saw the very last person to enter the room. "He insisted on going. I just let him," Yohann suddenly said in front of her. Ameilly just sighed. She already expected to see Victor there anyway.
