Chapter 1
I have always been more powerful than them.
I learned this at a young age, on a September Sunday that started the history of me.
It was just us, me and my brother, eating the fruit my mother had cut and arranged for us. Talking about castles, princesses and kings, an usual conversation between us.
Smashing my fork on the green apple and taking a bite of it as I rocked my chair back and forth, waiting for our mother to get back from the green beautiful forest with her healing plants. It was going smoothly casually eating from our colorful plate of fruit until a piercing scream made me and Alas jump from our chairs, with them landing behind us with a loud thud.
“Stay inside” I muttered and rushed outside almost slipping and falling on the way out.
My soul left my body as I took the scenery before my eyes. My mother on the ground, holding her arm as she cried out a panicked look in her eyes as she looked between me and back at the big brown bear that was murderously charging towards our home.
My heart was beating against my chest, almost giving me a pain, all I could think was that we were going to die. Time slowed down and I moved my eyes back to the bear. It was clear that It would kill us if it was to catch us, it was understandable as his body was twice my fathers, his mouth big enough to fit my head which will be snapped open in half by his sharp teeth.
“Get your brother and run Anastasia” I can still hear that scream to this day, the c***k on her voice making it way more heart breaking.
“Alas” I thought out loud and my head turned to the door where he was already standing, his dark brown eyes frozen looking ahead of us. I was young and I knew that but he was still just a kid, a cute innocent little boy who loved kings and dragons more than everything, and I could have died along with my mother but he had to be the one to survive.
I looked at my mother once more, the ground near her now a deep shade of red, caused by her left arm which looked painful.
“Alas, run as fast as you can, don’t stop until you find Dad.” He was still stuck at his place, tears pouring from his eyes.
“Alas now !” That seemed to make him snap out and he let a small cry and his body started running away from the house. Good. He’ll be safe I kept thinking , the only sane thought going through my mind.
“Anastasia, please leave with him now!” My mothers voice snapped something in me, the fork in my hands not painfully digging in my right palm . My body getting hotter especially my hands.
“Im sorry mom, but I can’t leave you.” I rushed towards her accepting the fact that we might both die together, for once ignoring and defying her.Putting my arms around her holding her close as she pushed and showed me away urging me to run, but I had already made up my mind, if she were to die, Id be dead as well too. It went downhill as if it wasn’t that bad already. The bear now seeing Alas running away curved it’s direction and raced after him instead leaving us screaming in the ground. My mind stopped right then and there .Dragons and Kings was the only thing I kept thinking as I felt my body heating up , my muscles on fire. I ran towards the bear, my mothers piercing screams now muffled by the sound of my own shout and rugged breathing.
I don’t remember all of it, the doctor had said that the trauma blocked most of it but some parts I do remember clearly. My pain, but the bears also. I can remember clearly the feeling of my fork going to it’s eye and the loud noise the bear let out. I remember the uncontrollable anger I had exploding inside of me ,seeing just red and how it felt as life went out of the Bear as I was on its back my arms around it’s big neck, holding for dear life until I heard the c***k the bear going limp.
Time didn’t seem to exist as it felt like everything happened in seconds , I only came back to my self as I felt my mothers warm embrace which had soothed my cries including the pain my neck and chest had experienced along with the heat of the warm liquid going down my body. Before the world turned black I recall the blurred figures underneath the clouds and the panicked voice of my father calling our names.
.
.
.
I had woken up after 5 days, screaming in panic asking if my family was alive which had dumbfounded the doctor who was looking weirdly at me as he explained that they were all alive and well with my mother suffering from a big s***h but which already getting better .I couldn’t understand his reaction at the time , as a kid thinking 5 days was such a long period but after some time after I learned the extent of my wounds and damage caused by the bears claws and even teeth, I came to realize that it was indeed a miracle to even be alive
And so on I had became their wonder, a 12 year old kid who not only had fought a bear but killed it and made it out alive now recovering uncommonly fast.My fathers worried face is still plastered in my memories as more and more doctors were informed about me, it was only after a couple of visitations when he decided it was enough.
“She is not an experiment.” The exact same words he said as he stopped them, short and hard he grabbed me softly and left the room. We moved outside the area, the sun warming my face and body fresh air filling my lungs.
“Dad.” I hesitated looking at his locked jaw. My hands playing with the hem of my blouse , his green eyes found mine and he softened a small smile adorning his face.
“Yes Gold?” He replied and I smiled at the nickname. He had called me his gold ever since I had been a small kid.
“Why do you call mom a diamond dad?” I had asked him back then. “Because she’s precious like a diamond” . He had smiled and kissed my mothers cheek as she laughed her hands on top of her pregnant belly. I had huffed and stomped the ground, jealous at my own mother for being dad’s diamond. My father had only watched me, tilting his head up a warm laugh escaping his mouth. “The world has a lot of precious things, and Anastasia you are one of them” he had tried to explain but it had only made me angrier and I crossed my arms mimicking my mother when she was angry. “Okay then you will be my gold” He had grabbed me and raised me on his shoulders, and immediately after I had said “You’ll be my silver then” getting another round of laughs from my parents and that was how it had stuck. I had been his gold and he had been my silver from that day on.
“Is there really something wrong with me?” I whispered as if I was scared to hear the truth. His eyebrows had furrowed immediately after and he had stopped moving coming to a halt.
“There is nothing wrong with you Gold. Everything will be fine and okay, it will never hurt you or your life.” He gave me a small smile and started walking again. “ And if it’s something greater than we think we have to accept that it is simply a gift the god has gifted to you, and with the help of me we will be able to get it completely under your control.”
And so we did, it became a part of our lives,a routine that started every single day after my father came back from his work. I pushed the myself to see the extent of my powers and when we started seeing the power of it we fought and trained to keep it under my control, to keep it hidden from the word as my father was scared it would bring me unwanted danger, turning the gift into a curse instead.
And It was going well, hidden from the world, with the only people knowing being my parents and the forest I trained on, that it until one day the trees and the animals were not the only ones watching, but instead another boy along with them. His hair black like midnight , his grey eyes narrowed in curiosity watching me from the top of the big pine tree.
Now thinking back this, this was the exact same moment my history had started.
