Prologue
There once were two very in love people, commoners as the rich would call them. These people always cared for others, and were kind no matter the circumstances, and no matter who it was. A few years after marriage they had a healthy beautiful boy and named him Dylan. Through the years his parents watched him grow up to be a healthy, young boy. At the age of four he had a great sense of humour. Dylan had jet black hair, and shiny eyes. He had an amazing smile that was easy to catch, you could say it was contagious. When Dylan had just turned five, he witnessed a tragic event, that changed his life forever. His mother suddenly had a heart attack, and died instantly. A few years after Dylan’s mother had died, there was little money left in the family, Dylan and his father had to move out of their house and into a small cabin by the woods. Dylan, now eight was growing more and more strong every day. His father was getting older and, was often tired, leaving Dylan to do most of the work. “Father?” He asked one morning. “Are we gonna be okay, or are we gonna end up living on the streets?” His father looked up, “Sweet child. I know things look rough right now, but I want you to look at the silver lining.” “And what’s that?” The curious boy asked. Dylan’s father laughed. “Isn’t it obvious.” His father replied. “We have a roof, clothing, food, and most importantly, we have each other.” His father told him with a smile and a pat on the head. Dylan giggled. “I never want to leave you pa, I always want to be with you.” Dylan’s father smiled, “I will always be with you, in your heart.” He then got up and went to his bed and fell asleep. Dylan glanced at his father once before standing up and heading outside, to chop some wood, knowing that winter would soon be coming, and the good, dry wood would be scarce. Meanwhile, at the palace all the servers were busy getting the palace ready for Princess Bella’s sixth Birthday. They made a five layered cake. Each layer was a different flavour. There was strawberry, blueberry, chocolate, vanilla, and lemon. It was a very delicious looking cake. The servers were working on putting the last decoration up, when Bella came running down the stairs. “Wow!” She exclaimed to no in in particular. “It’s so pretty in here.” The servers looked down at her and smiled. Bella then ran away giggling. “Darling.” The queen called after Bella. Bella was running in the front yard playing and giggling and just having a good time. Her mother the queen, chased her trying to catch her in a game of tag. Bella turned around just in time to see her mom collapse and her breathing get raged. Bella ran back toward her. “Mom, are you okay.” Bella asked When there was now response, she figured something was wrong, and ran into the palace, to find some help. By the time the doctors had figured out what was wrong Bella was crying and thought it was her fault. The queen had a problem with low blood sugar and all the running she did chasing Bella had caused her to collapse. The doctors said she would be fine but would need lots of rest. Bella went to her father to let him know her mom would be alright, but her Father didn’t want to speak to Bella. Bella’s father blamed poor Bella for what happened to her mother. A few weeks later, Bella’s father went on a trip, and made Bella promise not to make her mother run around. But a few weeks into his trip, they received a letter saying the king had fallen off his horse, the horse was spooked and trampled the king, leaving him with broken ribs. Someone passing had seen him lying on the path, and declared him dead. When news reached the palace Bella felt that she should of tried to make things right with him, and felt guilt that she had made him feel that it was her fault that her mom collapse. They had a funeral and Bella felt much guilt throughout the entire thing, she remembered that he told her to always be herself. Years later she still remembers that saying.
