Summer's Pov I walked into that building feeling like a hero. By the time I reached the elevator I felt like an i***t. The lobby was empty in a way that didn't feel like a quiet evening. It felt like nobody had been here in a while, like the air itself was stale and unbothered, and the numbers above the doors ran from one to ten on the ground floor which meant room fifteen was upstairs. I pressed the button and waited and told myself to breathe. The elevator was slow. I thought about Crew saying he wouldn't forgive himself if something happened to me, and for one stupid second I smiled at the wall of the elevator like a complete fool.
