Chapter 7: Hospital Stay

Since James didn't want to drink alcohol, the three of them lounged in the room, munching on sunflower seeds and chatting. Zack Burg suddenly turned to his underlings and said, "Go find a couple of girls to cheer up my brother James." James quickly waved his hands, "No need, no need! My own relative does this job. Why bring in outsiders?" Shirley glared at James, realizing he was suddenly becoming economical at this moment. Regardless, the two underlings left per Zack Burg's instructions to find some girls. Zack Burg patted James's thigh, "Today, James bro can just listen to me. Let my niece take a day off." Before long, the two underlings returned, leading four youthful and vibrant girls into the private room. All four of them wore revealing outfits and had cheerful smiles, immediately sticking to Zack Burg. "Zack Burg, you finally remembered us!" Zack Burg pointed to two of the girls, "Go over to my brother James. If you don't make him happy today, you know what the consequences will be." Glancing at the girls' super short skirts and their exposed legs, James suddenly felt a heavy weight in his chest, struggling to breathe. His vision darkened, and he fainted right there. "Holy crap! What happened to my brother James?!" Zack Burg exclaimed. Shirley rushed to check on James, placing her hand under his nose and pausing for a couple of seconds. "He's still breathing; it looks like he just fainted from excitement." "Holy crap, what's he excited about? Hurry, take him to the hospital!" James lost track of time, and when he regained consciousness, he thought about his own body, feeling as fragile as a dead bicycle—always breaking down at critical moments. He slowly opened his eyes to see Shirley and Hannah standing beside him. He had been brought to the hospital where Hannah worked. "Uncle James, you're finally awake," Hannah said with concern. Shirley, relieved but still wearing a disdainful expression, scolded, "Don't you know your own body? Why go to places like that for stimulation?" Hannah immediately defended James, "He's already like this; can't you tone it down a bit?" Shirley felt aggrieved, thinking to herself that if she only knew how the old man behaved at the bar, she wouldn't have defended him. "Fine, daybreak is coming. I'm going home to sleep, so you take care of the old man." After Shirley left, Hannah inquired with genuine care, "Is there anywhere else you feel uncomfortable, sir?" James sighed, "I just feel unwilling." Last night, those long-legged beauties were nearly right next to him, yet he fainted. How could he be satisfied with that? "Unwilling?" Hannah didn't grasp what he meant. Considering the two previous rewards from Shirley, he had accumulated a total of 300 days of lifespan, which meant he had effectively rejuvenated by ten months. With just a little over a year until his super reward was available, James felt fired up. Yes, he had to keep creating surprises to earn more rewards. Looking over at Hannah, who wore a concerned expression, he said, "I'm hungry. Can you go buy something for me?" Hannah nodded quickly, "What do you want to eat, sir?" In the hospital room besides James, there were two other elderly patients who were quietly watching the interchange between him and Hannah. James replied, "I want to eat pig knuckles." Hannah looked at him strangely, "Sir, do you really want to eat pig knuckles this early in the morning?" The system did not emit any notification. It seemed that simple requests wouldn't awe anyone. He realized he needed to do something more unexpected to trigger rewards. "Then get me two buns instead." "Alright, sir; I'll go get them for you now." As Hannah headed toward the door, the patient in the next bed suddenly shouted, "I want breakfast too!" Hannah stopped and smiled at the second-bed patient, "Sure, what do you want me to bring back for you?" The patient replied, "I want pig knuckles." Hannah said, "You can't eat greasy food with your condition. Plus, where do you expect me to get pig knuckles this early? How about I bring you some buns?" The second-bed patient suddenly erupted, "Do you know who I am? You can't even get me a meal? Do you believe I'll call your hospital director and get you fired?" Hannah's eyes turned red; she frequently encountered unreasonable patients like this. Forget about calling the director; even for a complaint, no matter who was right or wrong, the head nurse would force them to apologize to the patient. James turned his head to the second bed, "What's your condition?" The patient glared back, "What business is it of yours?" His anger stemmed from seeing how Hannah treated James differently. He was displeased because of it and aimed to make Hannah's life difficult. James got out of bed, put on his shoes, and walked over to the second bed. Each bed had a care card detailing the patient's name, age, and condition. Name: Huan Pg; Age: 58; Condition: Cerebral Infarction. James wanted to see what the person's illness was, just to check if he could take him on. He noted that though Huan was four years younger, recovering from a recent cerebral infarction should have left him with little strength. Hannah and the patient stared at James in confusion, unsure of his intentions. Huan shouted angrily, "Why the heck are you looking at my card? You're not worth my time!" Hannah was furious; she knew about James's diagnosis and was well aware that he had very few days left to live. How could he speak to him like that? Before Hannah could respond, James bent down and kicked off his shoes, charging at Huan and launching a flurry of punches. "Let me tell you to stop spewing crap! Let me tell you to stop acting tough!" 【Ding】 【Received surprise from Hannah, increasing lifespan by sixty days.】 At that moment, James couldn't care less about the good news. His mind was focused on how to gather more rewards when this elderly man had brought the opportunity to him. He needed to express his gratitude properly to the source of that reward. Hannah stood dumbfounded for a few seconds, then rushed forward to intervene. "Calm down, sir! Don't let this stress you out!" James pointed his shoe toward Huan, "Don't let me see you again; if I do, I'll hit you again!" Huan, now marked with shoe prints all over his face, trembled, "I'm calling the police; I'll have them arrest you!" James slapped the bottom of Huan's shoe against his mouth, "Go ahead! Call them; I dare you." Ultimately, a group of doctors rushed into the corridor, successfully pulling James away. Huan's relatives quickly returned to the ward. He had only gone to the bathroom for a moment, wondering how his father had ended up looking like a battered mess. And the person who had done this to him seemed even older than his father. Huan shouted at his son, "Call the police! Right now! Get them to deal with this guy!" Hannah stepped in to explain, "Your father was the one who insulted him, and Uncle James only acted in self-defense." However, Huan's son refused to listen to any explanations; he was used to their family's tradition of bullying others, never granting them the chance to be bullied themselves. Pulling out his phone, he began dialing the police. Meanwhile, James casually returned to his bed. He thought to himself that since the diagnosis stated he had a mere few days left, what could the police possibly do to him? He called over to a panicking Hannah, "Girl, why don't you run and grab some buns for me? I'm feeling even hungrier after all this excitement." Hannah couldn't make sense of the situation. How could he still be thinking about getting buns at a time like this?
