Chapter 5Max spent the four-day trip to Istaran trying to decide if Tai was the best or worst roommate it was possible to have. Tai went to bed on the dot of 23:00 every night. When not sleeping he spent most of the rest of the time running diagnostics on the ship, or reading. He wouldn’t drink tea in the afternoons, or coffee at any time of the day. He generally treated Max as if he wasn’t there. But he took his turn prepping meals—which mostly meant heating things up in the tiny galley—and cleaning up. At least he was quiet.
For his part, Max spent a lot of time trying to get through the door into Li’s bedroom, which still defeated him. He’d bet the bed in there was huge. And that the bathroom had a hot tub. He still hadn’t got into it when they docked at Istaran and left the ship. Mora
