Dreamless sleeps were all I had been getting since turning but it didn't mean I got a nights worth of restful sleep since changing and if eternity was going to be like this id rather die.
I threw the covers off me begrudgingly and trudged into the bathroom as my bladder threatened to burst and relieved myself and then freshened up. It was day two of Adam's master plan and I could feel him not too far away buzzing around the manor. He was restless and it was starting to affect me. I froze as I caught myself in the mirror.
This was me, this is me. This woman looking back at me. Her eyes sunken, skin ashen, hair limp and frail. Straggly looking hair, could you even call it hair? A mare human, deathly looking human, fragile and weak. She looked nothing like a vampire should look like nothing like the vampires I briefly came in contact with.
I was gross. Disgusting.
I am a mess and no one would say I was even a vampire. It was questionable.
I washed my face. The cold water hit me, splashing all around me, getting in my hair and clothes. I scrubbed my skin frantically in an weak attempt to revive my skin, it did nothing more than to irritate my skin. I was a shell of what I once was.
Hollow and empty with a insatiable blood thirst.
With wet hands I dampened my hair trying to tame it and make myself look a little presentable. I finger combed my hair with my wet hands trying to make it a little presentable. My dark curly hair laid unappealingly on my head, ringlets stood up at odd angles
I'm a mess.
Ugh.
There wasn't much else I could do or even wanted to do. I took my self in once more and left the bathroom, to find Adam perched on the edge of my bed, His eyes found me immediately following my every movement, I made a beeline straight to my bed and under the covers.
"We're not doing this," Adam said removing the covers off me.
I raised my eyebrows questioningly.
"You're not spending the day in bed." Adam said taking away my duvet.
I stared at him blankly what could he possibly want now?
"You can't spend all day in bed," Adam said, his voice empathetic and encouraging. "It's not healthy," he added.
Healthy? Take a look at me! I'm a freaking abomination. A vampire who couldn't handle what came naturally to a vampire.
"Trust me, I want to help you.
I wanted to trust him, there was something about him that I couldn't quiet put my finger on that pulled me in, he felt familiar yet I did not know him.
A look crossed his face but it was gone just as quick as it came. "Come on, let's go get some breakfast." He waited for me to move. "Come on," he encouraged now standing by my bedside.
I moved slowly, throwing my legs over the edge of the bed, I sat starring a head until I stood, he looped his arm with mine and lead the way along the winding halls and down the corridors. I found myself downstairs in a room I had never been before. He let go of me and I stood unsure what to do with myself looking around the room awkwardly. Before me there was a window, slowly I walked closer to the window, my feet moving on its own accord. I took a seat by the bay window overlooking the garden. The cushion behind me supporting my back as I leaned against the wall.
I could hear his footsteps, this house was always quiet except for the first day when I first woke up. It was loud and busy bustling with life and just like me it was now a hollow shell of what it once was. Adam entered the room with a tray in his hands, I could smell the blood in the cups, my mouth salivated and the fangs descended piercing out of my gums and straight through the bottom lip.
My eyes focused as they landed on Adam once again, he set a smirk my way catching my eyes. He sat placing the tray before me, mimicking my posture.
"First breakfast," he said breaking the silence handing over a plate of scrambled eggs and toast.
I arched my eyebrows questioningly. Toast? With scrambled eggs? Where's my blood?
Adam chuckled it was almost like he could hear my thoughts. "I said I was going to help you and this is it."
"Human breakfast food?" I asked my voice a croaky whisper.
A smile stretched across his faces. "She speaks!" He said with a laugh. "Human breakfast food just like you used to have before you turned." He explained. "It also helps fight the blood thirst, so dig in."
I was sceptical. Uncertainty flooded through me but I was willing to try anything to ease the blood thirst. I dug into the breakfast that Adam had made and surprisingly it was good, one of the better things I had tasted. My taste buds were alive.
"There are other things that can help keep your blood thirst at bay," he said around a mouthful of bread. "There's alcohol, it's the most common one." He paused taking in my reaction. "Okay, no alcohol," he concluded, seeing my distaste. "Chewing gum, perhaps or smoking that often helps."
I nodded pushing my plate away, I was done with this. Adam handed me the glass of water. I looked at it in distaste. Really is he offering me water?
He looked at me through his lashes, a smirk playing on his lips as he put down the cup and handed me a flask. I took it in an instant and drank from it greedily. It was smooth and warm as it glided down my throat. It hit the stop just right.
It was some time after breakfast that Adam reappeared and I had spent the rest of my time staring out the window.
Adam took a seat next to me by the window, he sat with his feet on the cushion with his back against the wall facing me. He adjusted himself I turned to face him, he looked like he wanted to say something but decided against it instead he scooted forward until our legs were almost touching. He took my hands in his holding my gaze.
"Let's go for a walk," he suggested.
My eyes widened as I processed what he had said.
Really?
"Yes," Adam answered as if he had heard what I had asked. "You've been starring out this window since we came down here."
I hadn't realised I had spent all day at this window. Time moved differently now. He took my hand in his and led the way, hand in hand he took me outside. The nerves subsided once I had stepped outside. It felt like it could finally breathe and something had been lifted off me.
It was freeing.
The warm afternoon air was comforting against my skin, a breeze picked up ruffling my hair. We walked down the garden hand in hand, I felt safe and secure being out here with him. It was nice, it felt normal.
I felt normal.
He handed me a blood bag and I took it without dying another word, grateful for the food. I drank it greedily draining the packet before discarding it. We continued to walk down the garden, there wasn't anything special about it the land was untamed it was bumpy no one had decided to flatten the land. WE came to a stop a few metres away from the trees that went on and on.
"Gen," Adam said my name drawing my attention to him. "I don't know what happened to you but I promise you I will make sure you get better," he promised. I could hear it in his voice, the promise, the belief he held beyond them words and that gave me some hope.
Hope.
I could feel it a sliver, invisible but the feeling bloomed in my chest spreading warmth through me.
