Ray and Ace walked into the mansion. The sound of hammering had quieted for the evening. Ace went up to Chrissy, and they touched noses. Autumn looked up from her work and smiled. Her loving gaze was the best part of his day.
“How’s it going?” Ray asked and kissed her.
“Much better now that it’s quiet. Got a lot done today.” She listed all the work she scheduled and the pending projects. “Elizabeth and I are going up in the attic to see what we can use for the festivities.”
“Sounds fun. Wish I could join you. Wednesday is a busy day.”
“What’s going on?”
“There’s an opening for Lieutenant, and my interview is on Wednesday afternoon.”
“That’s wonderful news!”
“It’s more of a management role, so I’m hoping for more regular hours. It depends on what’s going on.”
