Chapter Sixteen- Wonderful Surprises

Jane Jenkins (POV)

I hate that b***h, Diana. I know she was lying and following us to cause trouble. Yet, we saw through it. I really hope that she heard my scream of ecstasy and screaming Lucas’s name. Serve her right. Lucas is mine and he will always be mine.

We went back to the packhouse laughing and joking. It feels so good to be with the one I am meant to be with. As we walked through the door, I saw Lari sitting in the living room beaming with a huge smile as she looked off into space. I turned to Lucas as he kissed my cheek and whispered, “Drake just linked me and wants to see me.”

I nodded and pointed to Lari, and he nodded in understanding. I watched as he went down the hall toward the Alpha’s office.

I turned and walked over to Lari and sat next to her on the sofa. “What made you so happy?”

She turned and looked at me and smiled, “I am glad to see you. I was looking for you.”

“Lucas took me out for a run. Of course, I had to ride on his back.” I answered, “What’s up?”

“Other than Drake and Mom, I wanted you to be the first to know. I am pregnant.”

My mouth flew open as I squealed in delight. “I’m going to be an aunt.”

She laughed and nodded, “Yeah, you are.”

“How far along?”

“Two months now. I was wondering why I kept feeling sick. I finally went to see the doctor, and it was confirmed I am pregnant with a baby. Or what the wolves say, with pup.” She says, “You know wolves' pregnancies are shorter than humans'. Which means I will deliver in four months.”

“Six months? That is how long they carry babies? Or I mean pups?” I said, surprised.

“Yeah, six months.” She turns and takes my hands in hers. “Oh, Jane. Do not tell anyone. It will be officially announced soon. But until then I wanted you to share this news with me.”

“I am honored, sis.” I hugged her, “I am so excited.”

“And who knows now that you and Lucas have marked and mated, you could be next.”

My eyes grew big at the thought, “I had not thought of it.” I said as I frowned, “And we have not been using any protection.”

“So, you could be next. It would be wonderful if we were both pregnant at the same time.” She said, excited about the thought.

I am in shock because the possibility is there. Then I smiled, “I wonder how, dear ole Diana, would feel if I did become pregnant with Lucas’s pup?”

She chuckled, “That would go over well. But don’t worry about her. You are his mate, not her.”

“You are right…” Just then I was hit with a strong headache. “Ahh,” I grabbed my head and doubled over.

“Jane!” I heard Lari as everything went black as I felt myself falling.

I woke and looked around and realized I was in the pack hospital. I felt tingles in my hand as someone was holding it. I knew it was my mate. I looked over at him as he was watching me.

“What happened?” I asked Lucas.

“According to Lari, you just grabbed your head and screamed before passing out.” He informed me.

“Yeah, Jane. I called Lucas and Drake the moment you slid off the sofa. I was so scared.” Lari said as she and my family stood by the foot of the bed.

“I am sorry I scared you. Do they know what happened or what caused the pain?” I asked as the door opened, and the Doctor walked in.

“Lady Gamma. I am glad to see you are awake.” She began, “It would seem your wolf is trying to finally wake up.”

“Is that what caused the pain in my head?” I asked,

“Yes, it would explain it.”

A wolf. I am going to be like my family and finally have a wolf. It also has not slipped my attention that the Doctor addressed me as Lady Gamma. I guess I am. After all I am mated to the Gamma.

“There is another plausible explanation for it.” The Doctor continued, snapping me out of my thoughts. “You could be finally gaining the ability to mind-link. That, as well as your wolf, could cause pain. After all, you are not used to mind-linking.”

‘Can you hear me, love?’

I jumped at the sound of Lucas’s voice in my head.

I looked at him and he frowned. “I heard that,” I whispered.

“There is more that you will need to be aware of, Lady Gamma.” The Doctor was saying, “You will become more aware of your senses in the next few days. Better hearing, and being able to smell, and your eyesight will become stronger. It all comes with your wolf.” Turning to look at Lucas, she adds, “I will keep a close watch on her these next few days, Gamma.”

He smiled and squeezed my hand, “You don’t have to tell me twice.” I smiled at him.

This is wonderful. First, Lari is pregnant, and now I am finally gaining a wolf. I am so excited.

“So, can I take my mate home?” Lucas asked the Doctor.

“Yes, of course, she is free to go home. Just keep an eye on her. She may suffer more headaches until her wolf fully wakes.” She said as Lucas helped me to sit up.

“Thank you, Doctor. I will take good care of her.” He lifted me in his arms bridal style.

“I can walk, you know,” I exclaimed.

“I know, but I love having you in my arms.” I heard my family "ahh" at his comment. I felt myself blushing as he walked out carrying me down the street to the packhouse and up to our room.
