Chapter Fourteen- Reason to Celebrate

923 Words
Jane Jenkins (POV) When I walked down the hall with the doctor and saw Diana talking with Lucas, I felt jealous. Then Lucas stood up and walked toward us and, of course, she followed behind like a puppy dog. I almost chuckled as I thought that about them being wolves. “Jane, I am so glad you are okay,” Diana said, which I am sure she did not mean. I looked at Lucas as he explained, “I told her that you were being seen for a checkup.” “Oh, yeah. Everything went good.” I smiled sweetly at Diana. “Thank you for the concern,” Then I looked at Lucas, “I am ready to go, Love,” I said, placing my arm through my mates. He smiled at me as I staked my claim on him in front of Diana. She gave a fake smile as she said, “Well, I guess I will be seeing you two around.” With that, she turned and walked down the hall toward the exit. “The cancer seems to be dissipating. It seems the venom was the cure.” The doctor said after Diana was out of ear range. “That makes me so happy to hear,” Lucas said, excited that I would be all right. “I know I am thrilled,” I said, hugging Lucas’s arm that I still held. “Let’s go home and celebrate.” Catching onto my meaning, he couldn’t help but smile down at me. He took my hand, and we walked out with big smiles on our faces at the good news. We walk into the pack house as Drake and Lari stop us. “My office, now,” Drake says as we follow him into his large office. He turned to look at us and sighed, “So, the coffee had no trace of any drugs.” he said the words we already knew. “Yeah, at least not this time,” Lucas said as we sat across from Drake with Lari sitting on his lap. “But we have some good news,” I said, as if I couldn’t contain my smile. “What is the good news, sis? Come on share the news.” Lari said excitedly. “The venom worked. The Cancer is going away.” Just as I finished, my sister squealed in excitement and jumped off Drake’s lap to hug me. We both hugged each other and laughed with joy. It felt good to not have to worry about being sick. “We have to celebrate. Do mom and Dad know?” Lari spoke with such enthusiasm that it was contagious. “No, I haven’t had time to tell them yet.” Lari grabbed my arm and pulled me up from the chair. “Then come on. Let’s go tell Mom and Dad. They will be so thrilled.” “But… I… We…” I looked over toward Lucas, not wanting to say we were planning on a special celebration for just the two of us. “Go, love. We can do what we planned on later.” Lucas said with a wink and a smirk. I gave him a small smile of thanks and followed Lari out, and we headed down the street to our parent’s home. Everyone we passed gave Lari a small bow of respect, and she was so used to it by now she just kept on chatting about how excited Mom and Dad were going to be. I couldn’t help but smile as my sister is the Luna of one of the two biggest packs in North America. And now I am the Gamma female of the pack. I will need to ask about my duties as such. I heard one of them is I am Gamma to the Luna, which happens to be my sister. I have no problem with that job. We get to my parent’s home and Lari just barges in without knocking and mom comes running in from the kitchen with all the ruckus Lari was making. “Lari, Jane, What on earth?” Mom began as Lari interrupted her. “Where is Dad?” she asked just as Dad stepped out of his home office. “What is going on in here?” he asked, looking from my mom to where we stood. “Jane has great news!” Lari began, and before I could open my mouth to speak, she finished, “The cancer is going away. The marking and venom worked.” “Jane?” My mom whispered as my dad walked over to her and put his arm around her shoulder. I nodded, “It is true. I just went to the doctor’s, and she tested me. It is shrinking.” My mom squealed in delight and exclaimed, “You are all invited to dinner. We have to celebrate, and I plan on making your favorite dish, Jane.” “That is what I was thinking,” Lari said as her eyes glazed over. “I just informed Drake and he and Lucas are on their way over.” “I can’t wait until I can mind-link like that.” I said, as my family looked over at me, “The Doctor also informed me when I marked Lucas that my wolf could be waking from her slumber.” Another squeal from Lari as well as hugs from my family as they showed their happiness that I was turning just like they had.
