As I walked back into the hospital room, Hana walked up to me, her eyes filled with concern. “What did the doctor say?” She asked, scanning my face for answers.
I hesitated, unsure of how to deliver the devastating news. Hana’s expression told me she already sensed that something was wrong.
“Lily has leukemia,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. I didn’t want Lily or Akira to hear what I was saying.
Her eyes grew wide in shock. “What?”
