Chapter Six

2024 Words
Blake MY LEFT EYEBROW c****d UP AS MY MATE DRAGGED EMMA with her. Did they know each other? How? When? I couldn't help but look at my mate as she ran out of the club. Crap, I didn't even get her name! As soon as the girls left, Andre and Adrian rose their backs. "Dude, I can't believe Sam's your mate! You're so lucky," Adrian slurred after the girls leave. Andre and I rolled our eyes as we helped him walk out. I bet he was drunk out of his mind. But I always followed the rule of 'Drunk words were sober thoughts.' So, Sam was her name. Must have been short for Samantha. I preferred Samantha better. "Yes," I agreed with a laugh. "I also can't believe you marked her already! Like, you just met her!" I gave him a smack on his head. "Keep your voice down. We're still at the club, people might hear you," I warned. "Why did you do it?" Andre intervened. I sighed. "I didn't mean to do it. My wolf was taking over. Plus she smells and looks amazing. I'm kind of pissed at you, letting her leave the house like that." "Ok first, I didn't even know she was tagging along until Emma informed me. Second, how was I supposed to know she was your mate? It's not like I'm the Moon Goddess," he defended. Of course, he was right. He was Andre, when has he ever been wrong? "It's still your fault," I blamed. "Fine," he gave in, knowing that he couldn’t argue back. "Maybe next time I'll make her come in sweats, and a t-shirt that says: 'I don't want to be here, take me home.'" "Watch your mouth," I snapped. I knew he was joking and slightly tipsy but I wasn’t taking any excuses. He would have never said that to me if he was sober. Was I the only one who wasn't drunk? "Nope! I'm as sober as a truck!" Adrian disagreed, reading my thoughts. "First of all, you're the furthest thing from sober. Second, that sentence didn't make any sense which means we should head home, so let's go." Adrian whined at my command but Andre nodded, understanding. We walked outside and noticed Sam and Emma just staring at each other. I walked to my mate and wrapped my free arm around her bare neck. This seems to snap her out of her staring contest. She looked at my arm and attempted to take it off, but I'm like a boulder so she didn’t succeed. Andre copied me and Emma snapped out of it as well. "Oh hey. Sorry, we didn't see you guys come out," she said shyly. "We just got here babe. Don't worry about it," Andre assured her. Whipped much? I asked him in my mind-link. Andre just nodded his head. Marriage. Young love. I hated it. "Ok whose sober besides me?" I questioned. "Me!" Adrian shouted raising his hand in the air and we all sighed. "I only had one drink and Andre and Emma had split one as well," Sam answered me seriously. "Ok, so who had the least?" I wondered looking at the two. "Emma." "Me." They spoke at the same time and we laughed. They said it at the same time yet so differently. And it's not because Andre's voice was deeper and Emma's wasn’t but was the way they said it. "Ok so Emma and I are driving," I decided. Andre handed Emma the car keys and she goes to starts to their car. "We should all just head to the packhouse so that way Emma, Andre, and Sam don't have to drive that extra ten minutes," Adrian said and we snapped our heads towards him. "That's the first sober idea I ever heard you say all night," Sam said and we all laughed. Well, not me. What did that even mean? How long has she been with him? I felt jealousy built up in me immediately. "And I've only been near you for ten minutes," she added and I sighed in relief. "All right no more jokes. Hop in your designated car and head to the packhouses," I spoke up. They all groaned but did what I say. I saw Andre hop in the passenger seat with Emma and my mate started to walk towards their car as well but I grabbed her wrist again and spun her around. She had a very puzzled look on her face. "Where do you think you're going?" I wondered. "Um, Emma's car?" she said as if the answer was obvious. "No, you're not," I shook my head. "I'm not?" "Nope, you're riding with me." I pulled her along with me to my car. Change of plans, you're riding with Emma and Andre. I'm riding with my mate, I informed Adrian. Aw, I mean I'm happy for you, but really? I laughed at his thought and unlocked my car. I opened the passenger door but she didn't get in. "Remembered when I said you're going to do whatever I say and you're going to obey without hesitation?" I reminded her, smirking. She grew worried but nodded anyway and hopped in the car. I slammed her door and made my way to the driver side. Sometimes being head in charge had its perks. "Why are you like that?" Sam asked as I started the car. "Put your seatbelt on," I commanded while putting mine on. She pouted but listened regardless. She knew she didn’t have a choice. "You didn't answer my question," she pointed out as I pulled out of the parking lot. "I didn't." "Well, are you?" she pushed. "Will you answer a question of mine?" I wondered as I turned onto the highway. That's when I really hit the accelerator. Driving 55 mph was nothing compared to how fast we can run. "Are you trying to insinuate a game of twenty questions with me?" she teased. "I answer your questions and you answer mine. We're mates; we're going to be together for the rest of our lives. Call it 'getting to know each other.' Don't you girls love that?" "First of all, that’s sexist and rude. Not to mention stereotypical. That's like saying all guys watch porn and jack off to it," she sucked her teeth and crossed her arms. "I don't know about all guys, but most guys in the pack do. Self-included of course," I smirked. "Really? Adrian told me that you were off with a girl when I saw him in the club." I felt my wolf growling within me. He was angry at Adrian and wanted to punish him. But I assured him that he was probably drunk and was just talking bullshit. "Adrian is my best friend. Always have been and always will be. When he's around alcohol of any kind, it's like he's a different person altogether." "Then why take him to a club with a bar?" she fired back. "I haven't seen him in almost a month." "Why?' "You have yet to answer any of my questions," I pointed out. "You have yet to ask any." "Because I've been bombarded with your persistent queries." "Fine. Ask me some," she rolled her eyes and waited. "You're not human,” I stated, no uncertainty involved. Her breathing becomes labored but she quickly found it. "That wasn't a question." "That wasn't an answer," I fired back. "Stop avoiding my comment. If you're not human, what exactly are you? I can't take you back as Luna if you're dangerous to my pack." "I don't come before your pack?" Her question made me think. I gave her the best answer I could come up with. "You're equally important. The pack and I couldn't live without you." "What about the relationship between the pack and myself? I haven't met anyone except for royalty basically." "True," I agreed with a nodded. I found it somewhat funny that she called the T.I.C, Beta, and Alpha positions royalty. "But, once you get to know everybody you'll see how loving and welcome they can be. Except for my mother." I knew my mother will jump for the hills when she meets Samantha. My sister would be different. "Are we there yet?" she wondered, after a couple of minutes of silence. I assume she asked because we got off the freeway ten minutes ago. "Yeah, see that house?" "You call that a house? More like a castle," she laughs. I parked the car in the garage and turned it off. I immediately turned to my mate before she could escape. "What are you, Samantha? My packmates can instantly sniff you out." "What do I smell like?" she breathed hard. "Not human. And that's already a red flag as it is." "You're right, I'm not human. But, I'm human now." "So am I, but I'm still threatening," I returned. "So answer my question. What are you?" "I'm a-." Before she could finish, she gets interrupted by a very drunk Adrian. He tapped on the passenger window and we both whipped our heads towards him. I growled at him and he backed away. "You were saying?" I said, motioning for her to continue. "We should get inside. I'm a little hung over and won't remember any of this." I sighed, letting her go. "Fine, let's go." We got out of the car and made our way to the packhouse. It was only my mother, sister, and Adrian who lived here. Andre stayed over occasionally and maybe some other pack members. Now I would be living here with my mate. Sam followed me up to my room without complaint, which was a surprise but I didn't complain about it either. I opened the door to my room and Sam went straight to bed. After a few minutes, I heard light breathing and I was surprised that she was sleeping. I looked to her body and knew she wouldn't sleep in a dress and heels. Send Emma in please, I need a little favor, I ordered Andre. About 30 seconds later, Emma came in. She was only wearing Andre's shirt and looked tired. "What is it?" she yawned. "I need you to change Samantha while I shower," I said. I walked to my closet and pulled out the longest shirt I managed to find and tossed it to Emma. "Ok," she shrugged. I padded off to the bathroom and closed the shade so we both can have privacy. I ran the water, and while I waited for it to get warm, I undressed and grabbed a towel. I heard Emma grunt as she struggled, but she let out a breath in success then left, closing the door. I took my hot shower, which didn’t last long since my wolf was excited that our mate was waiting for us in bed, half naked. The thought got me excited and I was out of the shower within minutes. I first dried my dark hair, then wrapped the damp towel around my waist. I brushed my teeth before leaving to go put on some clothes. I put on a pair of dark navy blue boxers and got into bed. I moved closer to Sam so her back was pressed against my chest. She was small compared to me, but not that much. She's perfect, my wolf, Shadow, disagreed. She is, I agreed. But I do what wonder what she is. She's not a wolf or a vampire. We would have smelt her scent instantly. She's got to be human. No, she's definitely something. She's not just human, I argued back. Just leave it alone, and be grateful that we actually found our mate. You didn't even want one in the first place, I pointed out. Regardless, she’s doesn’t possess any dangerous qualities that will put the pack or us in danger. And now that we have her, he started. I don't ever want to let her go, I finished. "You're mine," I growled before sleep took over me.
