"TELL ME EVERYTHING," I COMMANDED EMMA AS SOON AS WE got inside. The interior decorations made up for the lack of the outside of the house. Emma and Andre lived in the bottom apartment of the building. I never heard a wolf living in an apartment, especially a TIC.
I knew the apartment had two bedrooms and only one bathroom. I just hoped both were soundproofed. I was not trying to hear my best friend and her husband have s*x.
The living room was made out of white paint and light colored wood. Emma hung up a lot of paintings and pants all around, making it the most natural home ever. There was a white sofa across a flat screen tv. Under the tv, which was mounted on the wall, was a fireplace. My mouth dropped open to how warm it was but now I knew why.
Emma sat down and I followed her lead. "Fine. So, when Andre and I left for our honeymoon," she started.
My eyes went wide and I literally shouted, "no not that! By everything, I meant anything important," I explained.
"Oh," she laughed and I scowled. She knew what I meant. "Ok so, when we bought this apartment, three days later two werewolves came knocking on our door."
"Wait, who were the two wolves?" I interrupted. "Was one of them Adrian?"
"Yes. And the other was his best friend: the Alpha," she answered then continues. "Are you aware of werewolf pack rules?"
"I know a little. Not everything though." I never had any reason to study pack rules, but I knew the basics.
"Ok. So, you know how Andre left the pack in California?" I nodded. "Well, when you leave or get kicked out of a pack makes you a rogue. Now according to the wolves, rogues travel alone and are dangerous to a pack. So, when the Alpha and Beta came knocking on our door-"
"They were there to kill Andre," I whispered. "Because they thought he was going to be harmful to them. I can see where they were coming from. A stranger on their land, I would kill them before they killed me."
"I guess. However, there's also a rule that a rogue can join a pack if they prove worthy, trustful and not dangerous."
"So, what did Andre do?"
"He did everything. Every unusual thing that happened in the pack, Andre was the one who handled it. The Alpha and the Beta never knew of the problems until Andre had told them he already handled it. Of course, that drew them mad but they grateful at the same time. Eventually, pack members grew a little jealous that Andre was getting all the credit, even though- "
"Even though he was doing all the work," I finished.
"Who's telling the story? Me or you?" she sarcastically asked and I raised my hand high in the air. We laughed and Emma smacked my shoulder. "It's me, not you. Anyway, Andre earned his way to 3rd in Command after someone stepped down," she finished.
"Wow. I got a few questions about the Alpha."
"I'll tell you everything I know," she promised.
"What’s his name? Does he have a mate? What does he look like? What's his personality like?"
"His name is Blake. I heard he doesn't have nor want one. He has jet black hair, and a tattoo on his left arm I believe. I think he got it because he's left-handed. Oh, and he has dark brown eyes. They're so dark that I think they're almost black. But you can tell the difference when his wolf comes out. Or when he's angry, or horny," she added with a laugh before she continues. "He's a jerk most of the time but he can be nice at times, especially to the Beta. But they're best friends so I get it. In conclusion, I advise you to stay away from him unless you're next to Adrian."
"Why doesn't he want to have a mate?" I wondered. Having a mate was a wonderful experience. Most of the time anyway. The Alpha was most likely older than I and wolves could meet their mate as soon as they shifted. So what was taking him so long?
"He believes that if he does find his mate, it would only complicate things. He thinks he can do it all without one," she explained while shaking her head.
"So, he cooks, clean, and can do all of the alpha duties?"
"Oh no. His mother cooks and cleans. The last time he did, he almost burned down the kitchen." I gasped, but it quickly turned into a chuckle.
"Oh, my gosh!" I continued laughing but it eventually settled down. "So, where's Andre now?"
"Packhouse," she answered.
"Oh. When's he coming home?" I wondered.
"Um, around seven I think. Which reminds me," she deviously smirked. Oh no. I knew that smirk anywhere. Emma was up to something. And every time we went out, it had ended in a disaster.
"What?" I groaned.
"We're hitting a club tonight!"
"By we you mean Andre and you, right?" I hoped.
"Not just us. It's us, the Alpha and Beta. Oh, and you," she added.
"What?!" I groaned again. "Why me? I'll just be an awkward third wheel."
"Well, I don't trust you alone yet. Plus you'll be a distraction since to the Alpha and Beta. Even though he's TIC, they still don't get along. And I'm helpless," she explained.
"So, what you're basically saying is: I'm only coming so that way the authorities won't bother you so you can have a good time?" I summarized.
"Oh, you're the best! I knew you would understand!" Emma said while hugging me and I hugged her back adding a sigh. "You know I'm joking, right?" she asked pulling away.
"Of course," I chuckled lightly. "You're my best friend. I know you better than anyone." She gave me a look and held up her gorgeous ring. It had a gigantic diamond in the center held on a silver band around her ring finger. "Ok, Andre and I might be neck to neck but you get the point."
"I do," she laughed as well.
"So, what are we going to do before we have to start getting ready?" I wondered and she gasped.
"You're actually going to come along?"
"Why not? It’s your birthday weekend after all. I want to make it special since it is your 21st after all. You know what that means right?" I asked getting excited.
"I get to drink legally! Ah! I'm so hyped right now!" She then gasped. "We should go shopping!"
"Uh, shopping?"
"You don't think you're going to a club naked, do you? Although- "
"Don't get any ideas," I stopped her. "But why can't I wear jeans and a blouse or something?"
"Um, who are you and what have you done with my best friend Sam? I know Sam loves to look fabulous, and she does a great job too. Even in jeans."
"Thanks?" I said unsurely. I think the plan over. Nothing can go wrong, right? All I needed to do was keep the Alpha and Beta away from Andre. The problem was, every time I thought about Adrian, it made my head swirl. How would I act when we're together and there's alcohol involved? "Fine, but nothing too flashy," I warned her standing up and pulling her up as well.
"I knew I could convince you. Let me grab my purse and keys. I'll meet you outside."
"Ok." I walked to the door and opened it, taking in the cold air. The sun was out, but it wasn't enough to melt the snow away. I sighed. I missed LA.
"I can't wait for spring," I heard Emma sigh as well. She locked the door and unlocked the car. She quickly informed Andre that I made it here safely and that we were going out to find me a dress for tonight.
"I love you," I heard come out of the phone.
"Love you too. Bye." I sighed.
