With a deep breath, I stepped inside and the first thing I found was my mother sitting next to her bed. Her eyes hollow and dark circles homing themselves underneath her eyes.
The next day after the accident I personally broke the news to her. She was a brave lady and took the news normally, nothing I ever imagined. She was calm throughout. Although I knew she hated to see her daughter on her death bed.
"Hey, mom." I tried smiling but failed.
Rounding the bed, I came and stood behind her. Placing a kiss on her forehead I slightly squeezed her hand that rested upon Lucy's cold one.
"Mom you look tired. Come I will ask Roman to drop you home." I tried persuading her but she didn't want to leave her daughter alone.
"Why is she not waking up? I want to be here when she wakes up Damon." She sniffed, her head on my chest as I pressed her more into me.
"Mom Lucy is brave. She will fight through everything. I know." I kissed mom's hair.
"And you need to be strong for when she wakes up. She'd hate to see you crying, mom." I wiped the stray tears that slipped from her eyes.
"Go home and take some rest. I am here for her." I assured her with a smile.
She nodded and with a kiss on Lucy's head, I dropped her to my car at the entrance.
On my way back my eyes roamed for that one particular petite figure and the owner of deep brown eyes haunting me in my sleep for the past two days.
Before I knew it I was heading to the reception where I asked one thing that was causing uneasiness in my whole system.
"Excuse me? Can I know where is that nurse that was here two days back? She had brown eyes with chestnut brown hair?" Although I seemed like a creep still I had to know her name at least. Her name was all I needed for Salim to do his work.
Without even knowing her name, I had wet dreams for her yet she was unaware. I needed to have a taste of her. Whoever she was, all I knew was, she was trouble. I just hope she is not committed or worse, married. Although I didn't find any wedding ring on her ring finger when she met two days back.
At first, they were reluctant but when I made up a lie telling them about finding a nurse for my sister, they disclosed her name to me.
Valerie Ambrose.
Fuck! even her name tasted so sweet on my tongue.
God! I was beginning to obsess over someone I knew nothing about.
With a grateful nod, I made my way to Lucy's doctor's office to talk about some things.
Just as I turned the corner, I halted in my steps and retreated to where I came from.
I should have known! f**k! I should have known he wasn't trustworthy. We were in danger, I had to get away from here as soon as possible.
I peeked slightly at the next hallway and when I found it vacant I made my way to Dr. Frank's office. The bastard was going to pay for backstabbing me.
With a knock, I entered the small but neat office.
"Hello, Dr. Frank." I greeted him before taking a seat in front of his desk leisurely, and he seemed to straighten up.
"Hello, Mr. Lysander. I was just about to come to talk to you." He smiled anxiously.
"What did to want to talk about?" I inquired with a raised eyebrow.
"I am afraid Ms. Lysander has slipped in the state of comatose." He spoke grimly and before he could continue, I stood up with lightning speed.
"Are you officially out of your mind Frank?" My anger knew no bounds.
"Mr. Lys—."
"Shut the f**k up!" I bellowed.
"I need her discharge paper in an hour. I have already called for the best doctors in the entire estate and sadly you are not one of them." I spoke authoritatively, leaving no place for an argument.
"I want her in my house by tonight Frank I don't care if this is against the rules of this f*****g hospital," I shouted at the top of my lungs to make my point across.
He f*****g betrayed me. I will show him hell.
With that said, I left his pathetic ass scared to the wits.
When I was coming to meet him, I saw Marko, Draco's younger brother coming out of his office and that rose my suspicions. It only meant one thing, they were being reported of our every action. This was a bad and alarming situation for us.
I stormed inside Rhodes's private room and saw him coming out of the bathroom freshly showered.
"Boss." He nodded in acknowledgment.
Shutting the door behind me, I fully turned to him. "We need to leave. It's not safe to keep Lucy here." I sharply stated and he was quick to wear his shoes, he was already getting discharged tonight, it was better we take Lucy along with us.
I filled him in with every necessary detail and saw his expressions hardening as the seconds ticked by.
With being done with all the necessary papers, we made our way out, Rhodes accompanying Lucy in the ambulance to take her home. I already set up every necessary piece of equipment in her bedroom to welcome her home.
Mom was informed and she was relieved on this piece of information.
With a last glance at the hospital, I made my way to my car, stifling the urge deep in my heart to run back and demand Valerie's address.
Valerie Ambrose was surely in for a surprise.
I smiled to myself. Again, I was confused, what had gotten into me?
All I knew was, Valerie was a f*****g siren. She was f*****g poison and before she takes my life, I needed to f**k her out of my system. She was nothing more than all those f*****g gold-diggers. She was the same if not more.
Oh, how I hated to even think about her when my sister's life was in danger. Maybe f*****g her once would make me forget about her.
Only if I knew what havoc she will create in my life and, heart.
