My mother called Wednesday afternoon around three to let me know that she and Paul had made it back to Philadelphia and by eight that night, I was at Paul’s apartment in his bed, welcoming him home. “My mother wants us all to have dinner together Friday night,” I said as I ran my finger along the tan line across his waist. Clearly, he’d gotten a lot of sun during the trip. “I know. Are you coming?” “I guess. She’ll be suspicious if I don’t. I’m sure she can’t wait to give me a rundown of your trip.” “We had a great time.” “I’m sure you did.” “But I’m glad to be back.” He pulled me on top of him and kissed me. “I’m glad, too.” “Did you miss me?” “Of course I did.
