Joe and Meg left early Monday morning for Raleigh and the work week. Meg protested leaving Harper alone, especially after Janie broadcast news of his homecoming to the entire town. Harper smiled and reminded her that Lucas lived next door and she was only an hour away, but she worried that he would run again. Eventually, he convinced his sister that they could make do with texts and daily phone calls.
Harper spent Monday and most of Tuesday writing, dealing with his publisher, and catching up on his email. He ventured out to have his hair cut before his date with Lucas.
