Standing in the kitchen of Jess and Charlie’s gorgeous home, Harper and Lucas drank a beer while chatting with Lucas’s family. Quinn and Allison’s kids, Leila and Ethan, tried to convince the adults to come down to the pool so they could swim, but all the grown-ups were more interested in talking with one another and doting on baby Lola than lifeguarding. It didn’t take long for Lucas to relent and carry Ethan on his shoulders down to the pool with Leila trailing behind, leaving Harper at the mercy of the family.
After finishing his beer, Harper stuck his bottle in the recycling bin and made his way into the family room where he found Lucas’s sister Jess bouncing a slightly fussy Lola. She tugged Harper’s arm and asked him to follow her into the library.
