CHAPTER 1: THE KILLINGS
In a crumbling city plagued by a series of bizzare murders . Detective Chris Mroy , known for his emotional detachment is assigned to investigate the killings of two women .
It was on the 15th of June and it was a Sunday, Chris was still sleeping peacefully in his apartment when he was woken by the buzzing of his mobile.
He just answered the call without checking who the caller was as he was still half asleep. " hello ," he said his voice hoarse from the sleep.
"Hello sir , this is Ken " there was a short pause before he continued" We have another murder case reported this morning. It is a woman in her late twenties, she stayed by herself at Sunhill Apartments. We are already headed there with the forensic team. Meet us there .
" Ok l will be there in 15 to 30 minutes, " he said hurriedly jumping out of bed now fully awake . It was going to take him some time since it was the opposite direction from where he lived . As it was in the morning there would even be heavy traffic since many people will be going to churches.
Chris was the team leader of the crimes unit . He have worked there for almost twenty years now , so he knew that this case was no longer a random killing case but it was a serial murder case. But what he couldn't understand was the connection between these women , and the killers motive . Was the killer just a psychopath who was killing
just for fun or was it someone who was driven by anger and revenge.
If this was a case of revenge it was going to be a tough one since there were no witnesses or connection between the victims besides that they were all women in their late twenties. Luckily there was no traffic so he got there in time . When he arrived at the gate there was a security guard, " who are you visiting sir?," he asked . " l am here with the police. Detective Mroy ," he said while showing his ID .
"Ok sir ," he said while opening the gate .
The Apartments were luxurious. When he got inside the building he went straight to the crimes scene. When he got inside the apartment he noticed that most of the things that were in this apartment were imported .
"Oh sir you're here ,come this way" it was Ken .
They into the bedroom of the victim . She was lying on the floor, the forensics unit was already doing their job and some detectives were asking around , hoping to get some information from the guards.
" It's just 8:15 am now, looking at the victim it's not been 10hours since she was killed . " he paused for a moment .
" Jaden did you get any leads on who could have come here before or after she got back from work." Jaden was one of the rookie detectives. "well sir there is no CCTV footage from 7PM yesterday to 6AM this morning. " he said.
"so this was not a random killing. it was prepared beforehand" he said to himself.
"Mr Corey did you find anything like footprints of fingerprints," he asked while looking at Mr Corey the team leader of the forensic team .He took a sigh before replying"Well Detective Mroy unfortunately we didn't find anything, we will inform you after analyzing these reports and bloodstains if any of it belongs to the perpetrator" he said taking a short pause" we are also done here we will be heading out first, Guys let's go we are done here,"he said while exiting the door.
Chris went closer to the victim she was covered in bruises " this is a case of resentment. the murder resented the victim. Pain was inflicted while she was still alive ," he said while looking at Ken . "She should be sent to the mortuary,"
" Mr Corey said he is sending the other guys who works at the forensics to take her to the hospital for post mortem"
