"How- and what do you mean by saying that I am the suspect ? She was my girlfriend for goodness sake. I am still mourning. Why would l kill her ? ," Steve was starting to feel angry and sad for being accused like this .
" We have evidence as you can see? Your earing was found there Mr Wilson," Chris said with a smirk on his face .
"Let me make a phone call , if you would allow me to,"
" you can . Anyway we don't expect you to accept your crimes easily. Every criminal does that . ," Chris said while gesturing him to use his phone .
Steve called his secretary to bring his lawyer and some documents.
Within twenty minutes his secretary has already arrived at the station.
" Good afternoon sir, l brought everything you asked for and Mr Johnson is already on his way here . " the secretary said when he got inside the questioning room.
"Thank you Pete . How did you manage to get the hotel and the airport's CCTV footages ," Steve said while looking at Pete .
"well I did my magic ," he said jokingly and continued" I told the to send it to me on my email address. And I told them that it was needed by you so they did it fast ," he said with a slight smile.
"Mr Mroy here is my proof that l was not here on the day of the murder and l don't understand how my earring got there ," he handed his departure date and time and also his arrival time and date. " Also this is the deal that I'd gone to Dubai for , you can also call this number to check if it's true," he said handing over the signed papers to Chris .
"The CCTV footages," he said while handing him Pete's laptop with the footages,"
Chris watched the footages , he was quiet for some time .
"I will call someone from the intelligence team to check if it is not tempered with ," he said while gesturing Ken to come in. " Ken call Mr Miller here , I need him here urgently," Ken did as he was told and called Mr Miller over the phone.
When Mr Miller arrived he checked the footages . " It's not manipulated . It's 100% genuine" he said looking at Chris while getting ready to leave.
"Well thank you for your time, you may go I'm sure you're busy . ," Chris said with gratitude written all over his face .
" It's been proven now that it wasn't you Mr Wilson.I was just doing my job ," Chris said while apologising.
"If seems like the police is now desperate to catch the criminal, that they're now pointing fingers at anyone . Just do your jobs properly and catch the criminal. Shouldn't you be trying to find who the criminal is instead of wasting time accusing the wrong person ? I've never been accused of anything so vile in my life . Isn't it a crime to disturb someone's life huh ? Should I just sue you for that ? ," Steve said with a raised voice
"That's why l am saying that I am sorry Mr Wilson . It was a misunderstanding. Even if you were me you'd have done the same thing because your earring was found at the scene . Again we are sorry for our incompetence.We will try our best to catch the criminal . You are such a noble man , sorry ," Chris said with his head bowed down in shame . They head a soft knock on the room , it was Mr Johnson.
"I am sorry for being late there was heavy traffic , " he said looking at Steve's face who was already pissed .
"It's okay Mr Johnson the issue is already resolved, anyway thanks for coming. , And Mr Mroy please catch Nala's murderer. I am sorry for getting mad at you . You are trying your best . If l was you l would've done the same thing. If you any of my assistance please let me know ," he said while looking at Chris .
" Thank you for understanding . I will let you know if l need anything,"
Steve was already preparing to leave. Chris walked them out .
When he got back he found Ken and Jaden already at his desk waiting for him.
" Did you find anything? ," Jaden asked.
Chris sighed deeply" The evidence was staged . Someone planted the evidence to divert the investigation."
"And the security guard must've seen the killer wearing a plastic silicone with Steve's face on it . ," Jaden said
"Who is playing games with us ?.,"
