Chapter Thirty-Six Zapata landed the heli on the roof of the Leader’s Residence. This time round, the landing was easy. The wind had died away to a light breeze and the sky had cleared to brilliant starlight. Cherry leapt out the moment the landing skids made contact, keeping low to avoid the still-spinning rotor. She ran out from under the blades before straightening up and jogging across the roof to the exit door. By the time she opened the door Zapata was already high in the sky, making his way to the nearest shelter. Cherry ran down the steps two at a time. Before landing, she’d confirmed with Meredith that the Scythians still hadn’t answered the hail the Fila had been sending them ever since they’d been spotted. Now, the enemy ships were minutes from reaching Concordia’s high orbit.
