Beep. Beep. Beep. Swooosh. It was the middle of the night and the only sounds that could be heard were the machines keeping my father alive. I stared at his corpse like body being illuminated by the moonlight from the window. I got down on my knees at the side of his bed and held his frail hand. "I'm so sorry Daddy. I just can't do this anymore," I whispered as silent tears fell down my face. "No matter what, I will always love you and be your little princess." I gently put his hand down and walked towards my brother who was waiting by the door. We walked silently in the dark through the manor until we reached a secret passageway that led to the border of our territory. My brother and I found this secret passageway when we were young kids and when our Father found out, he was livid and forbade us from ever entering it again. Once we got to the underground passage, my brother turned on a lantern that gave off a dim light to help us walk through. After about thirty minutes, we finally made it to the end where a bolted steel door stood. My brother put the lantern down and held my face in his hands. He wiped the tears off my face and pulled me into a deep hug. I hugged him back, knowing this would probably be the last time I would ever see him. "I'm so sorry, Es." he whispered. I coudn't help but start to tear up again, "It's okay. You did the best you could." He let go of me and took a card out of his pocket. "This card is linked to a new bank account." he handed it to me, "It has a good amount of money on it already. I have your account number, so I can send you money, but only your name is on it so no one else will have access to it." "Thank you, Alessandro," I hugged him again, "But what are you going to tell Clara?" He shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know, I'll figure something out. It will probably take her a few days to notice." He put my face back in his hands and looked at me, "I promise Es, one day I'm going to find you and bring you back home." He let go of me and pulled a key out of his back pocket to unlock the door. He pulled open the heavy door and the moonlight shone bright on our faces. Alessandro gave me one last look, "Be careful out there." I nodded my head and put the card he gave me in my bag that also held a few pairs of clothes, cash and my phone. I put the bag down on the ground and looked up at the moon. I closed my eyes and allowed my body to shift into my wolf form. My brother and I were only 17, but for some reason we have been able to shift since we were little kids. We weren't that intuitive with our inner wolves, but we assumed that wouldn't happen until we turned 18. The only time I was able to shift was when my brother was secretly training me. He had more free rein since he was the future Alpha and our stepmother Clara didn't show hate towards him like she did towards me. Alessandro picked up my bag and strapped it down onto my body. I looked up at him and couldn't help but give a small whimper. He looked down at his watch, "You have about one minute to get out of this area before security loops back around." he took out a small spray bottle and doused me with it to mask my scent. I nodded my head and trotted towards the edge of the forest where I began to blend into the darkness. I turned to give my brother one last look, then took off at full speed out of our territory. My wolf was small in comparison to others, but that made me extremely agile. It didn't take long to get into the rogue zone where wolves with no pack reside. I paused for a second and looked up at the full moon and let out a loud crying howl. I knew it wasn't safe to stay in this area, so I quickly took back to running towards the north in hopes of finding a new place to live.
