My first instinct was to run the car over Penny, but I knew it would cause more harm and I wasn't ready for that. My eyes darted around, and I swallowed hard.
One of them knocked on my window, and my eyes snapped to the window. The woman pressed her face against the glass, her voice menacing.
"Get the f**k out!" she yelled.
I didn't respond, frozen in fear. I knew stepping out would put me in danger, and my life wasn't something I was willing to gamble with.
