Kaela was the forgotten one and never the chosen one. Kaela, who is disregarded by both her pack and her family, keeps her head down and conceals her strength in silence. However, coming out of the shadows means revealing everything Kaela was taught to hide. ************** Junior High Kaela walked to school with her brother Ethan and his two friends. She walked behind them as usual and lost in her thoughts. Her brother and his friends never spoke to her, they don't even look at her. It's as if she doesn't exist and to be honest, Ethan would have loved to go to school without her, if not for Kate. Kate has been Kaela's nanny for as long as she could remember. She's the one who takes care of her, feeds her and ensures her transportation to school and from school. Kate was hired to raise Kaela since her dad was the beta of the pack and was constantly busy with works. He hired her to also teach young Kaela how to act like a proper Lady. Which should entail remaining silent where people of high standards talk, avoiding trouble and keeping her head low. But Kate didn't really teach her all those things, instead, she taught young Kaela the values of strength, kindness and courage. Naturally, Kaela's dad was unaware of what Kate taught her so they were safe at least, as long as Kaela curtseys, smiles and acts like a proper lady when he's around. Once, Kaela returned home from school with bruises, a black eye and a stinging leg. She explained to Kate that she fell but Kate was angry about it and didn't take her explanation, instead, she turned to Ethan with a mix of rage and told him that he had no right to lead if he can't even defend his sister. Ethan on the other hand didn't say anything not argue, he just simply nodded and headed back to his room. The only reason Ethan didn't argue was because Kate made it non-negotiable so he had to nod his way through. Kaela didn't belong to his group. She was the one responsible for herself as she kept on following him to school. School is all about ranks. Youngsters without titles acts desperately to win over people who has titles. Kaela might as well be invisible despite being the Beta's daughter. In school, Ethan hardly acknowledged Luna not when his usual gangs are around: Sidney, the next Delta, Irving and Thorne, who are the future Alphas and lastly Grey, the next Gamma. Together, they are violent, self assured and constantly moving, resembling a storm sweeping through the halls. They treat Luna like though she is just a shadow because they believe that she is responsible for her mother's death. Kaela's dad never intervenes. He always turns a blind eye to it. The only person that cares for her in Kate. She's the next thing to a mother that Kaela has. "You're so sluggish. Move faster dimwit." Candice voice echoed trough the halls. Kaela sighed and moved away but as she was about to, Candice set her foot and Kaela tripped head first into her open locker causing her books that she was holding to slip out of her hands as Kaela managed to catch herself. Kaela pulled her head out of the locker, her face red from embarrassment. Candice high pitched laugh echoed mixed with the students laughter. Ethan just glanced at Kaela and walked away. As Kaela continued to grow, it didn't stop instead it worsened. She became the school's laughingstock. One time, Kaela found a student being shoved to the floor by Candice. She confronted Candice about it and ended up being pushed to the door herself. Kaela regretted her actions but it was already too late, one of Candice's minion, Melanie stuck out her foot and Kaela tripped on it and fell. Candice took out her iced tea and poured the contents on her. Everyone laughed including Candice and her minions. Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw Ethan and his friends giggling. Kaela stood up and left.
