Chapter 10 Balinda’s pov I took Gavin’s hand and led him confidently down the stairs. I’ve read in books that some girls are embarrassed to bring their significant other through their father’s house, but I'm not. There is not an ounce of shame inside of me. Dad was waiting for us in the living room and smiled at me when we walked in. I dropped Gavin’s hand and went to hug my father. I don’t let myself feel sad over what is coming, I just let myself feel the love he has for me. We finally parted and I stepped back into Gavin’s chest, smiling up at my dad. “I see that little fear of yours is gone?” He asked me, smiling up at Gavin. “Long gone.” I replied, leaning my head back on Gavin’s shoulder. “Sir, I promise to love and cherish your daughter. You will never need to worry that she isn’t being looked after.” Gavin spoke, keeping eye contact with my dad. Dad stepped forward, extending his hand out. “I know that, son. I believe she will be happy and well loved under your care.” I took a deep breath, pushing away the tears that were trying to come to the surface. “Let’s go, we don’t want to be late.” I smiled at them. I had no idea where my mate’s family lived, but I knew it would take us at least forty minutes to walk to town. We set out and chatted. Gavin told him all the things he told me about his family and daddy told him about his carpentry. Dad took that up when I was young, I guess he had to do something in order to make a living and pull our weight in the pack. “Bells, is there something that you wanted to pursue now that you are eighteen?” Gavin asked. I shrugged, “I don’t know, I guess I had just planned to continue helping dad with his woodworking. I found that I actually enjoy the work.” “She’s gotten better than me with a chisel, spends hours out there working with me.” My dad said, I could tell that he was proud. “When we have our own place, we’ll make sure that there is a place for you to work. I have some money saved so we can buy all the tools that you may need.” Gavin said sweetly. I smiled up at him and glanced at my dad. He didn’t look at me, but I knew that Gavin wouldn’t have to buy me anything. Soon, Gavin pointed out a home in the distance. It was a beautiful two story home, bigger than ours. This home was more of a farm style home, whereas ours was a true log cabin type of building. “Gavin, it’s a beautiful home.” He smiled proudly and continued to lead us forward. When we got closer four people filed out of the house. They were quite obviously Gavin’s parents and two brothers, Jax and Casen. His mom was bouncing up and down on her toes, trying hard to reign in her excitement. His mom waited as long as she could before running over to me, grabbing me in a hug. It had been so long since I was hugged by a woman. I savored the feeling of being hugged by a mother. I could sense that she understood that I needed her embrace as she held on to me. “Oh my dear girl, it is such a pleasure to meet you!” She gushed. “You are absolutely stunning!” She ran a hand down my head like a mother does. I know I blushed a little, “Thank you, ma’am.” “Please you can call me May or mom, whatever you like.” She looped my arm in hers and finished leading the way up to the house. I glanced at my dad wondering what he would think about me calling this woman mom. He gave me a smile and nodded, it was okay with him. I glanced at Gavin to see him looking rather put out. He tried to give me a smile, but I could tell that he didn’t like his mom taking me from him. “Dear, this is my mate, Trever. You are welcome to call him dad, if you wish. This is my oldest son, Jax, and my next son, Casen.” Trever came over first and gave me a hug, “We thought we were going to be stuck with all three of these boys for forever. Welcome to our family.” “Thank you.” I replied and returned his hug. I could feel Gavin getting more restless the longer he wasn’t touching me and I was beginning to feel the same way. His brothers came up to me then, definitely smirking at my mate. They saw how much he was struggling. I could tell that they were about to start some major teasing. Jax opened his arms and went to hug me, but I was pulled back into Gavin’s arms before his brother could lay a hand on me. “No more touching.” He growled, rubbing his nose in neck to calm himself and his wolf. “A little possessive, aren’t we?” Casen asked. Smirking, but there was also some intrigue in his eyes. He noticed something. I haven’t been around many werewolves since we have mostly kept to ourselves, but maybe most werewolves weren’t so territorial… Usually only high ranking wolves are this possessive. Lower ranking wolves are far from pushovers, but are just less possessive. Family usually isn’t a problem. “New mates.” My dad chuckled, making light of Gavin’s behavior. “Hi, I’m Deran. Balinda’s father.”
