Blurb

Aurelia Hart thought her life would finally make sense the day she found her mate.

She was wrong.

Rejected by her Alpha in front of the entire pack, Aurelia becomes the girl everyone calls “unwanted.” But the night she runs away, bleeding and broken, a stranger with golden eyes appears—kneeling before her instead of looking down on her.

He is Draven Valerius.

The King.

Ruler of all supernatural realms.

And the man who claims Aurelia is his destined Queen.

Caught between the Alpha who threw her away and the King who would burn the world for her, Aurelia discovers a truth that shatters everything:

Sometimes the one who rejects you…

is the one who was never meant for you.

And the one who saves you…

is bound to your soul.

But the King’s world is full of ancient wars, forbidden prophecies, and enemies who want Aurelia dead before she awakens the power inside her.

And once Draven marks her, there will be no turning back.

the rejection
I never thought my first shift would end like this on my knees, trembling, while my mate looked at me like I was dirt. The entire Moonfang Pack gathered around the training grounds, whispering, laughing, waiting for the moment that was supposed to be the happiest day of my life. It wasn’t. Alpha Rowan stood in front of me, tall, cold, perfect. The bond between us had snapped awake just moments earlier my heart racing, my wolf howling, ready to belong to him. But he didn’t smile. He didn’t reach for me. He didn’t welcome me as his mate. He just stared at me with those harsh blue eyes and said the words that shattered everything. “I reject you, Aurelia Hart.” My breath froze. “No…” The word slipped out before I could stop it. “Rowan, you’re— You’re my mate.” “I don’t care.” His voice was ice. “You’re weak. Ordinary. A waste of a Luna. I don’t want you.” Gasps erupted around us. Someone laughed. Someone whispered, “Pathetic.” My wolf whimpered inside me, curling away from the pain. “Please,” I whispered, hating how small my voice sounded. “At least tell me why.” Rowan leaned down, gripping my chin hard enough to bruise. “So you never forget it.” His lips curled. “Because you will never be enough for me.” My heart cracked so loudly I thought they could hear it. He released my chin and turned away like I was nothing. Like the mate bond meant nothing. The crowd dispersed, murmurs spreading like wildfire. Rejected. Unwanted. Weak. The words stabbed deeper than any blade. I forced myself to stand, though my legs trembled, and stumbled toward the forest, anything to escape the humiliation burning my skin. I didn’t know where I was going. I just needed to breathe. To disappear. To not feel. Branches whipped my face as I ran, tears blurring my vision. The farther I went from the pack, the easier it became to breathe— Until the world suddenly shifted. The air grew heavy. The wind stilled. The forest fell silent… unnaturally silent. And then— A presence. Ancient. Powerful. Watching me. My heart pounded fast. “Who’s there?” The shadows parted. A man stepped forward tall, impossibly handsome, dressed in dark royal armor that shimmered under the moonlight. His eyes glowed gold like molten metal, locking onto mine as if he had been searching for me for centuries. My breath caught. His voice rolled through the forest like thunder. “Finally,” he murmured, stepping closer. “I found you.” I stumbled back. “W-who are you?” He stopped right in front of me, lowering his head until our noses almost touched. His scent was intoxicating warm, ancient, dangerous. “Draven Valerius,” he said softly. “The King.” My pulse stumbled. His fingers lifted my chin gently, the exact opposite of Rowan’s cruelty. “And you, Aurelia Hart…” His eyes glowed brighter, burning into me. “are bound to me.” The mate bond didn’t just spark. It exploded. I choked on my breath. “Bound…? That’s impossible, I already—” “No.” His voice deepened. “You were never meant for him.” Then he leaned closer, lips brushing my ear. “You are mine.” And everything inside me changed. My breath tangled in my throat as the bond ripped through me hot, electric, terrifying. This wasn’t the soft, warm pull I felt with Rowan. This was something ancient. Something absolute. “Y–you’re mistaken,” I whispered, my voice barely holding together. “I already found my mate today.” Draven’s jaw tightened, his golden eyes burning hotter. “That boy rejected you,” he said quietly, as if the words themselves enraged him. “He broke a bond that should have never existed.” I stared at him, chest rising and falling too fast. “What does that even mean?” He lifted a hand, pausing just inches from my cheek—as if asking for permission. My heart stuttered. When I didn’t pull away, his thumb brushed my skin softly, sending a shiver through me. “It means you were claimed long before today.” “What?” My voice cracked. “By… who?” Draven leaned closer, his breath warm against my lips. “By me.” My legs nearly gave out. “No,” I whispered, shaking my head. “That’s not possible. You’re— you’re a King. I’m just—” His grip tightened around my chin, but not painfully. Firm. Like he was grounding me. “You are not ‘just’ anything.” His voice was low, rough. “You are mine. My destined Queen.” A Queen? Me? I backed away, stumbling over a root. “I think you have the wrong person.” He didn’t move. He didn’t flinch. He just watched me with eyes that glowed brighter like he could see the truth written under my skin. “Aurelia Hart,” he said softly, “your power woke the moment you were rejected. I felt it. The entire realm felt it.” “My… power?” I laughed a little, hysterical. “I don’t have any power. I can barely shift. I’m nobody.” Draven stepped closer until his shadow swallowed mine. “You survived a rejected bond without dying.” I froze. No one told me that. No one told me I could’ve— Draven lifted a strand of my hair, letting it slide through his fingers. “Only those with ancient blood can survive that pain.” His voice softened, almost reverent. “Only a Queen.” My heart hammered so hard it hurt. “This is insane,” I whispered. “I need to go back. I need to—” “No,” Draven cut in, his tone suddenly sharp. “If you go back to that pack, they will kill you before your power awakens fully.” A chill ran down my spine. He wasn’t lying. I could feel it in the way his voice wrapped around the truth. “Why would they kill me?” Draven’s jaw clenched. He looked away for the first time, as if struggling with something heavy. “Because a prophecy is tied to your blood,” he said finally. “A prophecy that threatens every Alpha and every throne. Including mine.” I felt the world tilt beneath me. A prophecy? My blood? This couldn’t be real. This couldn’t be happening. I stepped back again, shaking. “I don’t believe you.” Draven’s gaze softened—just a fraction. “Then let me show you.” He reached for my hand. I should have run. I should have screamed. I should have done anything but— My fingers touched his. A shock tore through my body, light exploding behind my eyes— visions, fire, a crown of shadows, wolves kneeling— I gasped, stumbling forward. Draven caught me instantly, one arm wrapping around my waist. “Easy,” he murmured, holding me against his chest. “It’s only the beginning.” His voice was the only thing keeping me from collapsing. And then— A howl broke through the forest. Rowan’s howl. Draven’s eyes turned sharp, deadly. “He’s coming,” he growled. “He will not take you from me.” He lifted me effortlessly into his arms. “W–wait! Draven—!” But it was too late. The King of the realm held me like I belonged to him and the night itself bowed as he stepped into the shadows with me in his arms.
