Lawrey is the previous family holding the throne before the Verglas seized the throne through the Great Vampire war roughly two thousand years ago. Lawrey, together with Verdin and Levin lost against the joined forces of the Verglas and Zephyr. Though the joined forces of the Lawrey, Verdin and Levin, is far greater than the joined force of Verglas and Zephyr, the sudden participation of the Noir and Rumore changed the tide of war in favor of the Verglas.

When the Lawrey fell, Noir attempted to seize the throne from the Verglas, taking advantage of the weakened state of the alliance. However, through the might and wisdom of the then head of Verglas, who later on became known as King Vicer, he defeated the Noir and Rumore and successfully ascend to the throne.

Throughout this war, Ruwa and Stella remained silent and was never heard of up until the new king was crowned. Up until today, they remain hidden and maintained their silence.

The very peace that the Verglas protected all these years will be shaken to the core as a vampire with unknown origin made her entrance in a world she never knew has a dark past.

Chapter One
"My lady, it is very dangerous for you to still be near the windows at this hour. The sun is about to shine," said Heinrick as he emerged from the hallway. "Shall I prepare a bath for you?" he added as he starts pulling the heavy red curtains from the sides of the windows that run from the ceiling to the floor. Heinrick is a human. He is around 27 years of age. He has black hair combed back to perfection. He is wearing his usual black tuxedo uniform ironed to perfection, black leather shoes that even dust would be ashamed to even touch it, a pair of white gloves, and a golden hand watch attached to his side pocket. He is an embodiment of an old man possessing a young body the way he talks and acts and the way he looks. He bowed when I turn to him. I hate it when he bows to me like that. He is human and I am a vampire, a superior vampire at that, so I get it when he does that. But there are times that I don't want to be remembered that I am far superior to them when all I do every day is look at how they try to live their lives every single day like there is no tomorrow. Must be the perks of being only able to live for a few years. I rolled my eyes, let out a long sigh, and starts to walk towards him. My long black dress trails behind me as I slowly and proudly walk. He stood straight and flex his back, trying to expose his neck as if waiting for me to bite him and feed on him. I hate feeding on my attendants. I do not want their bodies to be smeared by vampire bites but all of them always act as if I wanted to tackle them to the floor and start biting all over. Besides, I can't even take a bite on his neck when he is towering over me like that without losing my poise. Standing at six feet eleven, I still have to look up to him just to meet his eyes. I am lying if I say that this doesn't bother me at all. I stopped in front of him, close enough to hear his heart beating so loud like they're going to explode any minute. Sometimes, this human amuses me at how easily he can put on an expressionless face while having a time bomb on his chest. I smiled a little thinking about this. Humans really amuse me to no end. I raised my right hand and touched his face. He gasps a little and his heartbeat wilder than before. I give him a small smile, still studying his expression. Well, I guess, it is a lot scarier to look at a smiling vampire than look at an expressionless vampire. I can hear his heartbeats and I am going to lie if that is not tempting me. "Calm down, human. I've told you before, you will be the last meal I will have once all humans die before you do," I told him in the sweetest voice I could muster. However, I do not think it gave him the impression that I want him to have. I am sure his heart skipped a beat. Damn vampire voice. It sounds like I am threatening him rather than assuring him. I walk past him and went straight to the long hallways with a red carpet. The hallways are decorated with portraits of what I believed are my ancestors. I really can't remember them no matter how hard I look at them every day. I eventually gave up trying to remember. We have the same features at least, blood-red eyes, pitch-black hair, and pale skin. However, among the portraits here, I am the only one who possesses these three identical moles to line up horizontally on the lower right eye. It looks like a birthmark so I never bother about it. I walk past my own portrait at the end of the hall where a human wearing a black and white maid uniform is dusting the vase at the top of the side cabinet just below the frame. I can't remember when it was painted but by the looks of it, it's more like hundreds of years ago. As if I can remember, my body never changes no matter how long it has been. In the painting, I wore a very tight corset that I don't know if I will still be alive after an hour if I was a human then. Standing tall while holding a book in one hand while my back faces whoever painted it but my neck is tilted and looking at the painter. I wore a long white and blue gown with my long black hair curled to the ends dance in the wind. But my eyes, it really makes me wonder all these years. They were silver, not red. I was on a balcony full of beautiful white roses. On the right side of the portrait is a garden table with two chairs adjacent to each other. The floor is made of pure marble and the handles on the balcony are painted gold. I can't even remember where that place is. Somehow, I look so peaceful in this portrait, looks so young and innocent. I look almost human. All of a sudden, a sudden sadness hugs me. I feel like something is missing. All I knew was that I am a superior vampire. Superior vampires always come from the pureblood lineage. A being born from humans and vampires almost always never survive after birth. Their body can't hold the power of their element that is why they always die shortly after they breathe themselves to life. "My lady," greeted the maid who immediately bows to me. She looks so pretty and those bulging pieces of flesh in front of her are somehow getting to my nerves especially when they dangle at her every movement. I unconsciously clicked my tongue on this thought which startles the maid and sends her shivering to her feet. Next time, when I feel like it, I will see to it that once I rip the hearts of my female victims, I will make sure that I will also rip those oversize pounds of flesh off of them given that they also have those. I sneak a peek at Heinrick from the corner of my eye and see him looking at that flesh. Seriously, Heinrick. Well, as if I care about what you two doing behind my back. I rolled my eyes and the maid made herself as small as possible. I have no ill thoughts, just on those she carries with her every day. I walk out of the hallway and up to the spiral staircase. I lift my skirt as I slowly climb the stairs, my heels clicking on the floor at each step with Heinrick still silently following from behind. Being a superior vampire has its advantage. I can manipulate fire and bid it to my will and the best one I have is I can walk in broad daylight. So Heinrick worrying about me being exposed to the sun in the early morning is nothing but amusement to me. Well, I haven't told him about it anyway. I have to collect lots of amusements to keep me alive in this world full of boredom. I reached the landing of the top floor of the mansion and turned to my right. All the curtains have also been closed on this floor. Only the lamps on the walls are the only source of light that illuminates the dark halls. I reach for the double door handles as I reached the door at the end of the hall. It's an old oak door that opens inside. I pushed the door open and go directly to sit in the chair by the window. The curtains are still open since this window is on the other side of the sun. it faces a great forest and on the horizon are the mountains. Behind those mountains is the nearest city to this province. Heinrick walks towards me with a bottle of wine in hand. He delicately and professionally pours me a glass of wine and places it on the table beside the chair. Well, this is my daily routine before I went straight to bed to have my daily long-awaited beauty sleep. 1945 Mouton Rothschild, one of the best bottles in my wine cellar, red as blood and aged to perfection. I downed the wine in a single gulp with a few drops escaping my mouth. I lick my thousand-dollar wine droplet. This is the best thing to do before going to bed. I stand from my victorian velvet chair and walk to the ceiling to the floor window draped with velvet and black thick curtains tied with gold chains to the sides. I heard paper being cut from behind me. Must be a Heinrick cutting a letter open followed by minutes of silence. "My lady, before you sleep, I'd like to inform you about the contents of the letter sent from the main house," I was surprised when I heard the word "main house". what do they want this time? I cleared my throat gently and turned to Heinrick who is holding a golden tray with the open envelope and the letter on top of it. "What does it say?" I calmly ask Heinrick. I tried to be as gentle and calm as I possibly can. still, my voice lets out a demanding, bossy, and I-will-kill-you-so-hurry-up-and-do-as-I-say voice. I groaned internally. Heinrick looks at me. "I believe the contents of the letter must be read by you yourself, my lady," Henrick said with a little bow while extending his hands with the tray to me. I have a very bad feeling about this. I remembered years ago, I instructed Heinrick to read all my letters and send only the letters which contain very important details to me directly and he can handle the rest. Being alive for hundreds of years really made me lazy. "Is it that bad?"
