“Dad, what happened to Mom? Why won't she wake up? Dad?”
Damn! That dream again. Why am I having it now? Right now!
I remember that Dad and Mom got married too young. It was because my grandfather forced them to avoid rumors that could ruin our family name, all because my mother was pregnant with me at just 17. Too young, I know, but she never regretted it. On the contrary, she said that my brothers and I were a blessing and that Dad was the love of her life, the right man. That was something I admired about them. I wish that had happened with Katy.
I open my eyes, and it’s already daylight. Yesterday, what was supposed to be a wonderful night with her turned into a nightmare—my worst nightmare.
