Chapter 5

KIYAN'S POV "Excuse me?" The girl behind me spoke, but I just glanced at her and continued ordering. "Excuse me, didn't your parents teach you any manners?" This time she said it louder, attracting everyone's attention. People around me started recognizing who I was. Before I could say anything, a fan shouted my name. "AHHHHH! IT'S KIYAN!" "s**t," I muttered under my breath as I ran out the door. Thanks to that girl, I wasn't able to order anything, and my break was almost over. I needed to get back to the practice room. AT THE JEWEL TALENT AGENCY "Five, six, seven..." The dance instructor counted while watching the three boys practice their dance routine. "Okay, that's enough. Let's take five." The instructor clapped, signaling that it was time for a water break. "Hey, Kiyan. I thought you were going to buy food and drinks at the coffee shop," Micky said in his deep voice. My groupmate noticed a vein popping on my forehead and immediately became nervous. "Micky-san?!" The small guy ran toward my groupmate, trying to stop him from asking any more questions. "Kei, let go of me!" Micky said, trying to free himself from Kei's grip. Watching them argue in chibi mode made me let out a quiet sigh. Micky and Kei stopped arguing and looked at me. "Well... there was this annoying girl." "And because of her, I wasn't able to order anything because a fan recognized me." "Let me guess," Micky said. "You cut in line, and the girl spoke in English and said..." "Excuse me, didn't your parents teach you any manners?" I looked at Micky with irritation. "Mickelson, if I were you, I wouldn't repeat that." "And how did you find that out?" I asked Kei. That made him stop what he was doing to Micky. "Oh... here." He handed me my phone. Just great. HOPE'S POV Yesterday's audition was just a blur. After speaking with the talent agent, Mr. Park, I was taken to a different room because I had a different type of audition. Right now, I'm just waiting for feedback to find out whether I got in or not. But I know I did my very best, and I don't have any regrets. "Hey, Hope. Since we still have two days before going back to the Philippines, what are our plans?" Juliet asked. "Hmm... I was thinking maybe we should explore. I don't want to think about the audition." Besides, it would probably take weeks before we received any feedback, and by then we'd already be back in the Philippines. "By the way, what will you say to your mom and dad if you get accepted?" Juliet asked as we walked out of the hotel. Now that Juliet mentioned it, I realized I had never really thought about it. I needed to consider a lot of things, especially since my parents expected me to take over the hospital. My life would completely change if I got accepted. But the biggest question was... Would my parents even let me go? "Earth to Hope..." Juliet waved her hand in front of my face. I smiled at her. "To be honest, I'm not worried because I know I won't get in." With that, Juliet and I enjoyed the rest of our two-day stay in Korea. Before we knew it, we were back to our normal lives. A week after returning from Korea, I received a rejection letter from JT (Jewel Talent Agency). I still remember how much Juliet cried for me because she couldn't accept that I wasn't accepted. Honestly, it was a bit of a struggle to make her stop crying. But then again, what else would you expect from Juliet? She was the best friend anyone could ask for. She was the kind of friend who would cry for your pain as if it were her own. And for that, I was truly thankful. AT THE SCHOOL LIBRARY "Hope, let's take a break from studying, pleaseee..." Juliet said as she started poking me. We were currently at the school library studying for the upcoming midterms. To be honest, ever since I received the rejection letter from JT, I had thrown myself into medical school. I promised myself that if I didn't get into JT, I would focus entirely on my studies and prepare to take over the hospital. That decision shocked both my professors and my parents. Oh, I almost forgot that Juliet was still with me. I looked at her and smiled. "Sure." The two of us walked toward the school cafeteria. I was deep in thought when Juliet suddenly spoke. "Hey, Hope... are you doing okay?" Her question caught me off guard. "Why do you ask?" I replied. "Well, ever since you got the feedback from JT, you've had this sad energy." "That's why I'm asking if you're really okay." "And honestly, Yaya Berta has also been messaging me, saying that something seems different about you." I didn't realize I had been making so many people worry. "And even your mom and dad reached out to me to ask what happened while we were in Korea," Juliet continued. Even my parents were worried. That was a first for me. "I'm doing okay, Juliet. I'm just focused on our midterms. And if something is wrong, I'll tell you. I promise." I smiled at Juliet, hoping to reassure her that everything was okay. "If you say so..." With that, our conversation ended. We bought some snacks, returned to the library, and continued studying.
