When they reached safe distance away from the guards and museum, jay turned to irina at the back seat. "you okay?" he asked her concerned. "yeah, just feeling a little dizzy, guess I over exerted my ability." she told him with reassuring smile. "what now?" ava asked as she drove. "I need to get back to my city, so i'm gonna need a portal if all goes well by midnight I'll be gone." she told them. "that I can help, I'll call my dad and ask him where we can find the portal for your way back." ava told her. "can't you get back the way you got in?" jay gave possibility. "no, it's impossible. Here you don't have a time tower which helps in finding fracture through time and space allowing me to get back." irina explained. "ouch, that's just great." jay said in bored manner. They drove in silent up to Addams mansion the two guards at the gate opened it for them, irina was fast asleep in the back seat holding tightly the sceptre. jay shook irina lightly on the shoulder, when she opened her eyes they had arrived at the mansion already. "they have comfortable beds and cushion inside, you can go and rest in." he told her. irina let herself slowly out of the car and lamely walked heading to the mansion, these were side effect of her using the sceptre it amplified her abilities but drained too much of her energy, her legs were buckling underneath. Suddenly left leg lost its footing and irina felt herself falling before she had reached down ava caught her in the shoulder and pulled her up. "sorry for being such a drag." irina told her weakly. ava beamed at irina, "you kidding, weight of your whole nation is on your goddamned shoulders, if ask me you are doing excellent. Gimme a flower pot and see a fool I would make out of myself." ava joked. Irina laughed at her comment, jay stood outside the car watching them as they helped each other climbing the stairs of the mansion, he felt all gidy up inside even himself couldn't believe that he became attached to those two messed up psycho girls. "hey dimwit, you coming?" ava called him. "sure, I'm just catching my breath." he answered. "suit yourself." then she turned and went on helping irina to climb the stairs. ********* jay and irina each sprawled in different couch, by the time ava returned after she had talked to her father it was already evening. "guys, I've got good news and bad news." ava announced as she descended the stairs. "lemme start with the good news. my father told me where the gate is located." "finally something to do, I was kinda getting coach sick." jay joked while turning to see ava. "what about the bad news?" irina inquired. "yeaah about that..."she hesitated before mumbling, "the gate is at rod's mansion." Irina squinted her eyes, "is it loud? my ears haven't heard a thing you said in your second sentence." "the gate is at rod's mansion." ava repeated loudly. Jay felt as if the temperature in the room rose few degrees high and by the look on irina's face he was proved that the temperature did rise. In the mansion before she had slept irina narrated to them about her fight in the alley, it looked to them like theobald wanted irina pretty badly though they didn't know the reason why, even irina didn't have the answer to that mystery. Now discovering that her escape route is through his territory it was damn pretty bad luck. "should've known, since they had destroyed one of the largest crystal blood family in America obviously the gates would have fallen in their grasp." irina told them head in her hands, things just got complicated. "my father offered us his support to take on theobald, he told me to meet him at the intersection leading to theobald's mansion from there we'll move on them together when it reaches six o'clock in the evening." ava detailed them briefly. "your father will be there?" jay asked her. "Yeah, even I don't believe he flew all the way from Hawaii." ava replied, her eyes filled with happiness. Ava rarely talked to her father, let alone meeting him face to face, so seeing her father was a huge deal to her that she couldn't hide joy out of the eyes, even if meeting with him was under worst scenario. Clock on the wall showed it was eleven fifteen, still they had forty five minutes left to go and meet with Mr addam to plan their ambush on rod's mansion. "we better get going then, there isn't whole day waiting for us or me to be more specific." irina told them, she took sceptre from the table and headed out. outside the mansion they all stood looking at the sun as it was setting on the horizon. "it's too quiet." ava whispered. "yeah, it is." jay replied. All of them knew in their hearts this was the calm before the storm, nothing was making a sound even the tree branches. Ava thought to herself if this was always the way it was but she hadn't noticed. Irina let out a long sigh. "let's go then." irina said. They descended the stairs their heart set and fixed, heading to their doomsday.
