Marianna,
The Packhouse was indeed a proud existence of the Blackhowl Wolf Pack's wealth. As soon as I walked into the house, the scenery before me stunned me.
Although our Silverflame Packhouse was worth fifty million, it was nothing compared to this.
However, the moment I stepped inside, heads snapped toward me. The servants who had been working suddenly paused.
Their eyes widened when they saw me. One of them did not even bother hiding their shock.
" Is it her? She looks strikingly beautiful."
" Did she get a makeover? Goodness! Lady Seraphina will be jealous of her!"
However, the admiration quickly shifted the moment they realized I had returned. Cruel smirks spread across their faces.
" She crawled back. See? I told you. She would return like a pathetic bitch."
I turned my head and looked straight at the servant before smiling politely. " Good afternoon, everyone!" I said, my voice colder than ice.
Everyone froze instantly. The servant who had just snickered visibly flinched.
Yet I felt nothing. But a chilling anticipation. A place where Violence was allowed and where players were available.
Their insults sounded distant, like meaningless noise echoing through empty walls. Perhaps , if it was my sister, she have broken apart in silence. But now, their words felt like invitations to the game.
" Show me the Luna's chamber!"
They all looked at me as though I had told them a joke. Sharp laughter echoed through the hall.
" Luna's chamber?" One of the servants walked toward me. " What would you do with that room? Don't tell me you would beg Alpha to take you into his room? Have you forgotten the punishment we have given -" She froze, her eyes widening in terror.
I did not move or say anything. I simply looked at her. My eyes turned colder as my aura surged around her like invisible pressure crushing her lungs.
" Show me the room. You shouldn't go against an Alpha!" I smiled softly, though my voice carried something terrifying beneath it.
Her body went rigid as though someone was pressing her against the floor and moved before her mind could even resist. Tears gathered in her eyes as fear consumed her.
Every Lunar Night, the Moon Goddess bestowed blessings upon every werewolf. Each person was granted one wish according to their deepest desire.
However, when I turned eighteen, not only had I wished to become the Alpha of my Pack, but so had my parents. Every blessed one received an ability connected to authority over their subjects, their Pack members.
Going against your Alpha meant committing treason.
Now, standing there and going against me while I was their Luna meant they were also going against the Alpha within me.
There was no-one who could control me. Not even my dearest husband.
The servant trembled violently as she pointed toward the room upstairs. " T-This is the Luna's room, Alpha!" she whispered.
I smiled and gently patted her shoulder. " Good girl!"
Her fear should have satisfied me. A part of me knew that. After everything they had done, watching them tremble should have felt rewarding.
But strangely, there was nothing inside me. No pleasure. Just the thirst to push people's boundaries.
I grabbed my clutch and headed upstairs. The servant collapsed onto the floor behind me, gasping for air.
" What's going on?" Barbara's frantic voice echoed from downstairs.
" She... She forced me to tell her about the Luna's room!"
" What?" Barbara looked at me, her body shaking. " How could she force you?"
I walked upstairs and headed toward the room. It was not locked. Pushing the door open, I found the entire room filled with furniture, files, and personal belongings. Someone had clearly been using it.
I slowly looked around. The scent lingering throughout the room made me realize that woman had already taken over this place.
So practically, she was doing everything except receiving the title. Pathetic.
Oddly enough, even the realization failed to stir jealousy inside me. I only observed the room quietly, as though I were examining someone else's life instead of my own marriage.
I walked toward the desk covered with files and picked one up.
Household expenses. My eyes narrowed slightly when I saw the numbers. Around ten million dollars per month for household expenses? Exactly how large was this estate?
Just then, the door slammed open.
I thought it would be Barbara. But it was her. The woman. Xavier was not with her. As expected, he would rather do his own thing than involve himself in the drama here.
" What are you doing in my room?" she shrieked.
I said nothing at first. Placing the file back onto the table, I quietly scanned her from head to toe.
I had always followed one simple motto. What belonged to me, I would take back. Whether big or small.
Standing there, I observed the beautiful woman before me. Earlier, she had looked as though she would faint if I merely snarled at her. But now, her expression darkened, her jaw tightening as her teeth ground together hard enough for me to hear from where I stood.
There was confusion hidden behind those blue eyes as she stared at me. She was probably wondering how the girl from yesterday had suddenly become someone entirely different.
I could almost see her trying to understand it, trying to find traces of the frightened woman she used to torment. Unfortunately for her, that woman no longer there.
Then I slowly traced my nails along the edge of the glass table.
I looked up while leaning lazily against the desk. " Your room? The servant downstairs said this was the Luna's chamber."
Her eyes darkened as her voice dropped dangerously low. " So? Who allowed you to come inside?"
" Allowed?" I tilted my head slightly. " I am the Luna. Who allowed you to take over my room?"
She paused again. Her jaw tightened further as she struggled to suppress her fury. Women like her had little patience when things escaped their control.
" You b***h!" Her expression twisted as she turned toward Barbara. " Bring the leash and the chain. I should have killed her on the first day. She forgot who runs this household!"
I smirked faintly before slowly sitting down on the chair. " Seems like you love violence. Just like me!"
Even while saying it, I felt strangely detached from my own words. Violence no longer frightened me. Neither did it excite me. It had become something ordinary, something familiar enough to no longer provoke emotion.
She could not move. Her body trembled with fury. Just then, Barbara walked in carrying both the leash and the chain in one hand, while the thorned whip rested in the other.
" Here. I brought the thorned one too, Lady Seraphina!" Barbara said with a smirk, clearly preparing herself to enjoy the upcoming scene.
Lady Seraphina. The name was as beautiful as her appearance. Unfortunately, her personality was not.
The leash and chain hanging from Barbara's hand told me enough. They had not merely beaten Julianna before. They had restrained her first, as though she were some disobedient animal before punishing her.
Yet even that realization failed to stir much emotion inside me. I only stared at them quietly, my fingers resting lazily against the armrest of the chair.
But it seemed Julianna had gone through hell. She might have been spoiled by my parents, but she had never truly faced someone as scheming as Seraphina.
Barbara handed the whip over to Seraphina. Her shoulders straightened slightly, excitement flashing in her eyes as though she had been waiting for this moment all day.
Seraphina looked at me while her lips curved faintly. Her eyes slowly scanned me from head to toe as she approached. I smiled back calmly, watching her every step.
" All the beating, burning, and starving did not teach you a lesson, did they? I knew you would be thick-skinned, but this much?"
She swayed the whip lightly through the air, almost as though she was measuring how much strength she intended to use.
" Tonight, you will beg me for forgiveness until I decide to forgive you!"
Saying that, she struck toward me with a smug smile resting on her face.
