Amanda’s POV. I watched the fleet cars exit the compound and drive down the street, from my window. Going downstairs to say goodbye wasn’t an option and since he didn’t deem it necessary to say goodbye to me, I guessed this was how it was going to be from now on. When all the cars were gone, I pulled myself away from the window with a sigh that I hoped did not express how bothered I was by all this. Because I was bothered. Bothered by the fact that Asher and I hadn’t shared a meal since that day, and now he was apparently gone for the week for some gala one of the lords was hosting. Our meals together were sort of an escape, a chance for me to feel normal, even though nothing about my sistuation was normal. The door to my room swung open and my head snapped in the direction of it. D
