There is only one thing that makes me happier than the Black Market business. My little Dragons are the light of my life. Sure they aren't so little. After all, we are the biggest mafia in North America. Eventually, I am hoping to have the title of biggest mafia in the world, but that's not my main focus at the moment.
"Boss, we have new recruits in the shooting range right now." Alex informs me when I walk into the warehouse. Alex is one of five people in charge of recruiting and training them.
"I will be there shortly, I just have to run some things by Spider." I tell Alex while walking in the opposite direction he is going in.
Spider is our surveillance and security chief. Nothing gets past him, he has eyes everywhere and has never disappointed my father. After all, I just recently took over as the leader. My father still takes care of alliances, since he doesn't want anyone on the outside to know who controls everything.
"I have already placed extra cameras and microphones throughout the club. If anyone says anything threatening about your sister, I will know immediately. There is no room for error any day, but especially today. It will be your ass on the line, not just mine, if something happens to her." Spider reports as soon as I shut the door behind me, not even looking up from his computer.
"If something does happen to her, you know what to do right?" I ask cautiously, not sure if he would actually go through with what I told him.
"I won't be doing what you requested, Boss. If you get beat the f**k up, I will be next to you getting beat up too. It takes two to lose track of someone in a situation like this. If she goes missing, I will be more at fault than you. She is my number one priority tonight and if I f**k it up then I deserve to die."
I stare at Spider, he is the only person in the mafia that knows about my sister and I. Then again, he was my father's best man at his wedding. It only makes sense that he would be entrusted with our protection since we were born.
"Just know it is an option, to hide until father calms down. I would hate to lose someone like you." I comment before leaving the room and going to the range.

I've been watching all the new recruits from afar, not wanting to draw attention while they are training. Disgusted, that's how I honestly feel about these guys. Sure it's their first day, but come on. We live in a shady place. How the f**k do they not know how to shoot a weapon? They don't even have to take a proper stance, just hit the f*****g target man.
"Enough." I state firmly, making the instructors stop them from proceeding to embarrass themselves. I wait until everyone in the room is looking at me before talking.
"What the f**k is this bullshit? All of you have been here for hours, practicing, yet you still can't even accidentally hit a f*****g target. How do you expect to make it into The Dragons if you can't even show improvement? Tomorrow you are supposed to move onto something else, but we can't do that if you can't even make it in a shoot out. Why should we continue to waste our time on you?" I ask coldly, making eye contact with everyone.
After a few moments of silence, I speak up again. "Alex, vouche for these fuckers before I kick them all out."
"With all due respect," Alex starts, bowing his head slightly, "I went further out than the area we usually cover. These are what you like to refer to as rich white kids. The kind that think they can do anything just because their parents have money and they didn't have to fight for anything."
"Then why the f**k are they here?" I seethe, pissed he would choose the type of people I specifically said not to go after.
"I watched them fighting on the streets in our area. Just trying to start s**t for no reason, just so they have a reason to throw down. I figured we could give them a reason, I just didn't think they would be this bad."
I stare at him for a few minutes, debating on if I should accept the extra time and effort they will need to be trained to my standard. "Do they at least hold their own in a fight?" I ask before giving my final say.
"Why don't you find out for yourself?" Alex suggests a fight making me perk up a bit.
"Choose a recruit and a member you think would be a good fight then."
"They aren't trained to our standard yet." Alex butts in.
"You said they could hold their own, prove it before I put a bullet in all of them for wasting my time." I give Alex a challenging look, asking him to tell me no again.
Alex turns to the recruits before shaking his head, clearly stuck on who to choose. I look over all of them, ranking them based on who I feel like would do worse than the others. I would like a good fight, even though all of them would get their asses handed to them.
"I volunteer, since you can't decide, sir." I glare at who spoke up, furious that he spoke up without being spoken to first. I refrain from doing anything about it though. They aren't from around here, they just need to be thought our rules.
"Alex, have Tyler get into the ring with him." I state before I started walking toward our make shift ring.
"Why don't you fight me since you wanted the fight so bad?" The guy asked making me pissed.
"Alex, make your dogs know their place." I say, rolling my eyes as I continued to walk.
"He's about to get his ass handed to him, I'll teach them afterwards." Alex states, making me irritated at him.
I get having a thought or opinion on how to do things. I even understand that Alex and I are friends, but NOBODY should be saying anything other than 'Yes Boss,' in front of recruits or anyone who may take it as me being 'put in place.' This is MY Mafia, not him.
"TYLER!" I yell, my voice echoing throughout the room. Tyler comes jogging to the ring and nods at me in respect.
"How do you want this to go down, black-out, tap-out, no mercy?" Tyler asks, a spark of amusement showing in his eyes.
"Surprise me." I say as the recruit steps into the ring.
"His name is Joshua." Alex says as he stands next to me, all the recruits circling the ring.
"His new name is mutt." I state, not really surprised the guy has the whitest name possible.

"Alex, watch over Eli as he draws everything. I don't need my father on my ass about him again, he either does good tonight or he dies."
He quietly leaves the room I am in to go find Eli. Alex is just butt-hurt that I put him in place about suggestions in front of people. Regardless of what he thinks, he has no power when it comes to The Dragons. Alex is in charge of recruiting, that's it. If he somehow got killed, we wouldn't feel it because he isn't the only one in charge of that aspect. He needed to be humbled, in my opinion. The only people with authority in this b***h is my father and I. If anyone in the Dragons had authority other than us it would be Spider. Nobody else, and everyone needs to know that. Everyone needs to respect that.
