Mr. Shameless

“My identity doesn’t matter, what I mean however does. Which is… I can help you.” He buttoned up his sleeve and looked at her calmly. A sense of danger crept up on her. A hunch told her that this man wasn’t as simple as he looked. “I don’t need your help.” Natalie quickly refused “Is that so? Then why, pray tell, did you try to drink your worries away yesterday? Your boyfriend became your brother-in-law, your parents don’t trust you, and now even the public is against you. Did you not read the headlines today, Ms. Smith?” “That has nothing to do with you.” Natalie clenched her jaw. “Thank you for saving me yesterday.” Natalie got down from the bed and tried to search for her clothes, but her efforts were to no avail. “Sir..” “Theodore Moore.” He leaned against the wall languidly and looked at the panicking Natalie condescendingly. “That’s my name.” Natalie frowned after he introduced himself, as she found the name was familiar. “Who’s Xander Moore to you?” “We aren’t related... Will you believe me though?” Theodore answered her question with another question. “I think you know the answer to that. Why did you approach me?” Natalie looked at Theodore, her mind racing non-stop, for she thought the man had some ulterior motive. “Are you planning to use me against Xander Moore?” she asked “Him?” Theodore snorted before looking at her in disdain. “You flatter him too much.” Natalie inhaled, shocked by Theodore’s arrogant claim. “If you’re not going up against him, then I don’t think there’s anything for us to talk about.” “Don’t you hate him, Ms. Smith?” Theodore stared at her. “Don’t you hate him for hurting you? He was the one closest to you.” “What do you want?” she asked confusingly “Marry me,” he smiled. “I can give you the happiness nobody else can give.” He sauntered over, backing Natalie into a corner. Her heart was pounding, she looked up and met his deep, bottomless eyes. Natalie was captivated by his eyes. Theodore Moore narrowed his eyes and suddenly leaned closer. She could feel his warm breath on her neck. It felt flirty, almost tender, but not lustful. “Like what you see?” Natalie suddenly snapped out of her thoughts. The puffs of warm air on her neck made her skin tingle. The woman shoved him away and took a few stumbling steps back into the wall herself. “You.. you are shameless!” Theodore Moore’s gaze darkened, before he walked up to her and pulled Natalie towards him. He then extended an arm to pin her against the wall in a kabedon pose. He looked down at her before cupping her chin. He breathed on her lightly, a smile dancing in his eyes. He then leaned down and chuckled. “THIS is called being shameless. Do you understand me?” “Let go of me!” Natalie disliked him being so close to her. Her heart was pounding uncontrollably. “Don’t think I have to marry you just because you saved me. We’re in the 21st century, not the mediaeval era!” “Looks like you’re objecting to the proposal of getting married to me quite violently, Ms. Smith.” Theodore brushed a finger across her cheek. Her face was smooth and soft to the touch. Flippantly, he said, “But that’s not going to work.. I only want you. The more you refuse, the more I want to marry you.” “Are you mad? Why? We don’t even know each other, and you know my situation here. Why would you marry a ‘persona non grata’ like me?” Theodore frowned, disliking Natalie calling herself that. “I’m Theodore Moore.” “I know.” She growled. Does this guy have underdeveloped communication skills? “I know your name. You’re Natalie, and you know my name. We know each other, so why are you saying we don’t?” Theodore looked at her. Natalie gaped at his response “Don’t sell yourself short. Contrary to what you believe, you’re not completely out of resources and support. From today onwards, you’ll have me.” This guy is mad! He must be really mad! “Mr. Moore!” Natalie was getting annoyed now. “Didn’t you hear me? I don’t want to marry you! I don’t know you, and I don’t love you!” “Who do you love then? Xander Moore? Well, isn’t he your brother-in-law now.” Theodore said mercilessly. “You aren’t thinking of getting with him again, are you?” He rubbed her chin with his thumb as he awaited her answer. “Well?” Natalie swatted his hand away. “What does that have to do with you? Why must you marry me? Can’t you pick someone else?” “You’re the first woman who doesn’t repulse me.” “What?” Natalie was confused. Theodore pursed his lips before he let Natalie go. The woman took this chance to put some distance between them. She wanted to feel safe, even if for a bit. Theodore smiled at her response. “It’s simple. You pounced on me last night, and I wasn’t repulsed by your touch.” He narrowed his eyes. “Why don’t we make a deal?” Natalie said nothing. Theodore turned around and sat on the sofa. “I need a wife, and you fit the description.” “YOU. ARE. INSANE.” Who does he think he is? Not repulsed by me? ”You should see a doctor if you have a condition, Mr. Moore.” “You don’t have to give me an answer right now, Ms. Smith. I’ll give you time to think about it.” Theodore called someone in the meantime. A moment later, Zachary came in with a brand new shopping bag. “I have done as you requested, sir. Here are the clothes.” Theodore Moore lifted his chin, wordlessly telling Zachary to give it to Natalie. She hesitated for a moment before taking the bag and going into the bathroom to change. Surprisingly, the clothes fitted her perfectly, as if they had been custom made for her. Even the lingerie was the perfect size. As Natalie looked at her reflection, she kept calling Theodore a p*****t quietly, but her face suddenly fell. She had never expected her boyfriend to hook up with her sister during her time overseas. She was the victim here, but everyone was saying she was a homewrecker. Even her mother was on her sister’s side. Natalie turned on the faucet and splashed her face with some water in an attempt to force her tears back. She had regained her composure before exiting the bathroom, but her reddened eyes sold her out. Theodore glanced at her, before he looked away quickly. “Call me once you’ve thought it through, Ms. Smith.” He said without any emotion in his tone He handed her a name card, while she looked at him in doubt. Theodore Moore put it in her hand. “Don’t say no to a kind offer.” “Kind offer?” Ridiculous! Natalie stared at the name on the card, and when she saw his title, it took her by surprise. “You—” Theodore Moore played with her fringe, stunning her and putting a stop to her words. The man took the chance to leave. Before he did, he said, “I await the good news.” Natalie looked at the leaving man in a daze. Theodore Moore! No wonder his name sounded familiar. Theodore Moore was one of the four most powerful entities in X city. Although the leader of X city’s Four was elusive, however either Mr. Moore or Mr. Lewis were assumed to be it. Both of them had taken the city by storm. No wonder he doesn’t care about Xander Moore. Xander and his family are probably insignificant to him. Natalie lowered her head and gripped the name card tightly. Theodore Moore’s name had now occupied her mind, and was impossible to erase. Why does a powerful man like him want to help someone infamous like me? Natalie couldn’t understand it, but she didn’t dwell on it. After putting the card in her bag, she took a deep breath and left. After her departure, Zachary turned a corner, appearing from the shadows. He looked at the leaving woman before calling Theodore. “Ms. Smith has left, sir.”
