Chapter Twelve

Leon smiled smugly as the demon ran away, disappearing around the corner. Closing the door, Shane pulled me into a tight hug, worry in his sturdy frame. Sighing, Leon motioned toward the back door closest to the training arena. He spoke strongly "Let's get this done with. I'll change over to Killer's form to encourage people to behave" thinking back to when Jack first came into our lives. Shane agreed, and we all walked toward the back door, Leon shifting as Shane and I walked ahead. Hearing the shedding of clothes, I turned to look into Killer's golden eyes. He had to almost belly crawl through the door as they weren't set up for that. Thinking about how I should fix that and mentally added it to the list of house upgrades. I smiled, kissed his snout then turned back to continue walking toward the arena, Killer stalked behind us, giving off his Alpha power reminding those supernaturals that are nearby what lies in wait if threatened. Shane being ever the gentleman opened the door for me and Killer to walk through it, with a reminder to make the doors bigger for wolves and other bigger shifters. After Killer got through, Shane jogged back up to me and took my hand again. The way our training arena is setup is bleachers lining the north and east walls with doors separating them into left and right bleachers. The east wall is the same way. The southern and western walls have french doors, two sets black in color with frosted tint on them to block the sun when setting. Looking around I spotted the group not far from us, both demons, the one still pale with fright, the witch and Jack all stood around the Moirai who were currently sitting on the first bleacher, no one really speaking. Jack saw us first but was confused when he realized the other two weren't with us. The witch looked up, started to stare at Killer and Shane with fake attraction on her face. Her eyes thoroughly roamed over Shane's body then landed on our hands interwined, her face turned with with real jealously. Killer took notice and a rumble escapes his throat. Storm and Vitani laughed. I smiled and spoke for Killer "Killer is warning you to speak carefully. Wahtever thoughts you have about these two men won't be happening. Shane's taken and Killer just doesn't like fakeness." I watched gleefully as her face morphed into a scowl. Killer snarled back in response and she shrunk back, moving away from his warning. One of the Moirai, the one closest to us, turned her head to look at us but she was supposedly blind. She spoke, her voice had echoes and was crystal clear despite her age, "Where are the other two---" Another shouted, cutting off her sister, "Leave us, we must be alone." The first snapped her head to her sister in shock, the second started nodding as if agreeing with something. Then the third rose slowly, speaking softer then her second sister but still sharp and harsh, "My sister has spoken. Leave us now. Even you Jack." She replied before the words left Jack's mouth. Everyone looked shocked and maybe a bit angry. I don't think anyone has dismissed them like this before especially without reason. Killer ever impatient snarled and side jumped around me and Shane, lunged forward at the group. Everyone but the Moirai panicked and ran towards the closest french doors, he snarled again as a warning. Shane jogged over to lock the doors behind them then the other sets so we didn't have any eavesdropping. The Moirai that was still standing called for me, so I tentatively walked up to them and stood in front of all three. The other two stood up as well, the second one, the one who made the demand that everyone leave, she was in the middle. She reached up with her hands to cup my face, "I thought so, all three are here sisters. what we saw those centuries ago is coming true. Jack will not have his demand filled. Nightshade needs her protectors. The girls need their soulmates or life partners and one has already been found." Soulmates? thought Storm, I thought everyone called them life partners. And what demand did Jack make? Why would the Moirai listen to such stupidity in the first place? Nothing was adding up. "Tempest" a curious Vitani whispered "Have them explain them selves about Jack please." I understood her quietness, Jack didn't make a good impression nor has he tried to improve himself to make us even remotely like him. Some days we tolerate him at best. At worst we want to shoot him in the head and be done with it. So I ask in a almost harsh tone, "What demand has Jack ask for?" The second Moirai grew quiet and the first Moirai showed signs of her being upset. The third sighed and sat down "Child, if we had known this is what became of the three of you, we wouldn't have even entertained the greedy fool." "That tells us nothing." I snapped. The first glared at me and snapped back "DO NOT TAKE THAT TONE WITH US, CHILD." I felt fur on my arm and finally noticed that Killer was next to me once again. He huffed hard and that single motion sent the other two Moirai back down onto the bleachers behind them. "We want answers. Do not spin riddles or tales on my partner. You know the threat that is Jack, why would you do this to any supernatural. Let alone someone as powerful and active as the girls are." The third was staring at the door where everyone had ran through earlier. "Jack wanted all three of you girls to marry him and he would stop hunting the rest of the supernaturals in exchange. Jack thought it was a fair deal and everyone on the council thought so too. First sister has been trying to get us to agree as well but we could not. Jack's demand was just that, a demand. Not a guarantee." She spoke softly like she was sad nobody could see through Jack's lies. I sighed "Jack was told the truth about us wasn't he? About what Storming Lies is?" They all nodded, two and three regretful. "Who?" "We are not sure of who or how. Her secret was among us Moirai and your family, no one else. Shane, I take it has been told of what the truth is?" Killer barked like it was a yes. The second nodded again, "Good have you connected yourselves to each other?" Shane rubbed the back of his neck like he was ashamed of the answer. For the first time in a long while Killer spoke out loud, shocking the Moirai. "Leon was researching that this morning but found nothing on how two very different species mark each other." His voice deep and rich. Storm giggled suddenly, whoever his life partner is, their going to melt at the sound of his voice. We all agreed on that one. The third Moirai grinned wickedly and the next words out of her mouth made me and Shane very excited. "It's a good thing we are here then. You'll need a party to show off your new mate. Come help us into your house and up to the attic for this discussion."
