Julie and the final

1865 Words
Julie tied her hair into a ponytail as she looked at her art supplies. Her gaze went to Tessa. "You leaving?" Tessa asked. "Yeah, need to start working on my assignment," Julie replies as she started packing her bag. "When is the deadline? The week is going to end," Tessa said wearing her shoes. "I got two days," Julie replied. "Will that be sufficient time?" Tessa asked. "Yeah, I have done some work last night. Two days and nights will be enough to finish the assignment," Julie explained arranging all her things neatly in her bag. "So when you will be here? My shift ends at five," Tessa said. "I will be there by five. Let's get ready and go by six. Bodhi and Fiona are also joining us. They will pick us up," Julie said. "When will the match starts?" "Eight, it will take thirty minutes to reach the stadium where it's happening," Julie said. "Okay, tickets?" Tessa asked standing up from the seat. "I have the tickets, don't worry." "Okay good. I will leave now, see you in the evening," Tessa said picking her bag. "Yup, go safe. See you in the evening." Julie gave her two-finger salute. Julie wore her shorts and a camisole top as the temperature is hot and humid. August in New York is hot and humid. Most of the time Julie will be roaming around in her shorts and camisoles. Now she needs to go to the art studio where she can finish her assignment. She got to know that only a few people are in the studio as others are already done with their assignments. She picked her bag, water bottle and phone before she started walking out of the room. She locked the door, went towards the art block where the art studio is there. The art studio is only used by the final year students. You will have personal access to the art studio when you are in your final year. You can use the art studio anytime you want. It doesn't matter at what time of the morning or night you are staying in the art studio. You can stay up late and work on your assignments and projects. Julie looked at the students hanging in the garden area of the campus. The final year students don't have any classes today as they need to finish their assignments. It's nine in the morning, students are running to their classes and a few are chilling. "It should be a good day," Julie muttered under her breath. A yawn left Julie's mouth as she stopped before the studio gate. She pulled her ID card out and scanned it. "Hey, Julie." Julie turned around to see Josiah. "Hey, Josiah," Julie said. Josiah smiled giving a friendly hug to Julie. "What ya doing here?" Julie asked Josiah. "I'm here to meet Arlo," Josiah said. "How's it going? Here to finish your assignments?" Josiah asked wandering inside the studio with Julie. "Yeah... It's going pretty good. Assignments, projects and work is a pain in the ass," Julie commented. Josiah nodded his head. "Can relate," Josiah said. Josiah is an engineer. He is doing his bachelors in physics. While Arlo is her classmate and Josiah's brother. "We are planning to go out for lunch. Join us," Josiah said. "Maybe some other time. I have to finish my assignment in two days," Julie replied looking at the people present in the big studio. There were only six people out of thirty students present in the room. "Hey, Julie. Hey, Josiah," Arlo said. "Hey Arlo," Julie replied waving her hand. "Hey bro," Josiah said. "Done with your assignment?" Julie asked. "Yup, letting it here to dry," Arlo said looking at the oil painting. Julie crossed her arms as she observed Arlo's work. He is one of the best students in the class. But he has a habit of doing and finishing the assignments when the deadline is nearing. "Looking pretty brother," Josiah said looking at Arlo's work. "Hmm, thank you. But it's not just pretty," Arlo said. "Then?" Josiah asked. "You observe and tell me," Arlo said. "If I can observe and tell you I would've told you before itself," Josiah said rolling his eyes. Julie smiled teasingly looking at Arlo. "Haha, Josiah your brother got his eyes on someone and he wants to confess his feelings to her," Julie explained. Arlo looked at Julie. "Dude... Why did you tell him that? I wasn't going to tell him yet. Now he will start teasing me," Arlo said. "Woah! So Arlo got someone to crush on. Haha, nice brother. Finally, you decided to like someone," Josiah started joking. "Haha, shut up," Arlo said. Josiah looked at Julie, "how were you able to tell that he got eyes, someone?" He asked. "Hmm." Julie silently watched the painting. Arlo crossed his arms and leaned back waiting for Julie to talk. "If you observed the painting, he blurred the people except two," Julie said. Josiah properly observed the painting getting a bit closer to it. He narrowed his eyes in concentration. "Where? I only see the blurred figures," Josiah said. Arlo and Julie shared a look. Arlo smiled softly. "To the right side, in the crowd, there is a bench on which the figure is sitting," Julie started explaining. Josiah's eyes widen in enlightenment. "Oh yeah. I didn't observe this." "Yeah... You see the girl there and now look opposite. There is a lampstand and you see a figure standing beside it," Julie said. Josiah looked at the person standing beside the lampstand looking at the bench where the girl is sitting. "Nice bro, who is this girl? Which department does she belong to?" Josiah asked. "Haha." "See you guys later. I need to get into the work," Julie said. "Yup." "Yup." Julie gave her salute before wandering towards her space. There is no one present in her row. It's entirely empty. She placed her bag down, removed the canvas cover. She sat on the table looking at the canvas. She has no idea of what she is going to paint. She picked the book that she kept on the table. She opened the book, exhaled heavily closing her eyes. She tried to remember all the scenes and memories that have happened in the past few days. A smile grew on her face as she knew what to paint. She started humming tieing the apron around her. She pulled all the colours that she brought into her bag. She placed them on the table. Started arranging them accordingly. She mixed up the paints that she needs to paint on her black canvas. "Hey, Julie." "Hey, Milo," Julie said. "Do you have extra A4 size papers? I need them, I will give them back to you tomorrow. I forgot mine," Milo said. "It's fine, you can take them from that desk." "Thanks, babe," Milo said opening the desk. He took the number of sheets he needed before wandering to his space. Julie concentrated as she mixed the colours carefully with the right amount of mix. She didn't check her phone as hours passed. She worked on her painting continuously without taking any break. Paint on her hands and fingers as she painted the image that is present in her mind. Before she forgets the image on her mind she needs to finish it. * Julie pulled her denim pants up as she looked at herself in the mirror. Lana Del Rey is playing in the background as they are getting ready. She is standing before the full-length mirror wearing black denim and a black crop top. "Looking hot sis," Tessa commented looking at Julie "Haha, not more than you," Julie said. Tessa shook her head brushing her hair. Tessa is wearing denim and a crop top. Julie pulled her maroon plaid shirt and wore it. She folded the sleeves of the shirt halfway. She left her hair open, applied the lipstick and wore the vans. "You ready?" Tessa asked. "Yeah, just need to put on the perfume," Julie said picking her perfume bottle. She put on the perfume and kept it back in its place when her phone started ringing. She answered the call. "Hello?" "Babe, we are waiting in front of the dormitory building. Come down when you guys are ready," Fiona said. "Okay, coming in five minutes," Julie said. Tessa kept her water bottle, wallet and keys inside the bag. Julie did the same picking her bag and phone she looked at Tessa. "Ready?" "Yup." "Cool, Bodhi and Fiona are here. They are waiting for us." "Let's go." They started walking towards the door after turning the lights off. Tessa locked the room and threw the keys in her bag. "I'm excited, this is my first time attending a tournament match," Tessa said. "It will be good, I'm not into the gaming world but I do enjoy the vibe and game on life," Julie said as they walk down their hallway towards the steps. "So your brother is going to play today?" Tessa asked. "Yeah, he is going to play today," Julie said. "You know Flynn right?" Julie thought about it there are two Flynns whom she knew. "Which one? The one in digital marketing block? Or your ex?" Julie asked. "My ex, he is a huge fan of the Jaggers. I'm sure he is going to be there. He never misses a match," Tessa said with a distant smile on her face. "Hmm, if he is a fan of The Jaggers. Didn't he take you to the matches before?" "Hmm, he never wanted me to be there beside him in the things he loved. He didn't want to take me to the places that he loves. That's the reason we broke up as I kept on feeling the line," Tessa explained. Julie nodded her head. She doesn't exactly know what to tell Tessa. She never met Flynn but she knew he was her senior. He graduated last year and he is a business major. "Hmm, from what I heard from you before and now. He is an asshole, good that is that you broke up. Chin up, we going to all places," Julie said wrapping her arm around Tessa's shoulder. "Yes." They wandered out and saw Bodhi and Fiona waiting outside. "Hello..." Julie said waving her hands in excitement. Bodhi chuckled while Fiona waved her hand back in excitement. "Childish," Bodhi commented. "It's not," Julie said glaring at Bodhi. "We are not," Fiona said. Tessa laughed. "Hey, Bodhi. Hey, Fiona," Tessa greeted. "Hey, Tessa. How are you?" Fiona asked hugging Tessa. "Hey, Tessa," Bodhi said. "It's going good. How are you two?" Tessa asked back after hugging Fiona and Bodhi. "We are doing good." "We are good." Bodhi and Fiona replied. "Let's get in the car girls. We need to reach the location soon before it gets crowded," Bodhi said. "True." Julie and Tessa took the back seat while Fiona took the passenger seat. "Did you text your parents?" Bodhi asked Julie. "Yeah but he is busy," Julie said. "He must've been busy with the training and it's his big day," Fiona said. "Yeah."
