“ No you can’t go to Cali” Louis mom’s voice echoed as she stood from where she sat, finding another spot on the couch far away from Louis.
“ And why is that mom?” he asked wanting to know what her problem with it was.
“Louis it’s very dangerous, the crimes there are terrible” she voiced not wanting to hear a word more of it but Louis was determined to get her approval, he had always been one to do whatever his mom says but not this time. This has been his dream for as long as he could remember.
“ Mom I agree, that’s why they decided that I was the best man for the job, we need to catch those criminals and lock them up so they can face the law and get punished.” He pointed out before standing and walking over to over where she sat.
This has been an issue ever since Louis was a child and for as long as he could remember, his mother had always hated Cali although his grandparent lived there she had never let his visit them not even once, his mother wasn’t concerned about the criminal but she just didn’t want his to step his foot in Cali for some reason best known to her.
“ Lunu! the boy is all grown he knows what’s best for himself, you can’t keep locking him in the house like before just let him go and besides it’s a great opportunity for him grow in his work.” His father voiced out looking in the direction of is wife.
“ Ian don’t you tell me that, you very well I don’t like that town”
“ But mom!”
“ No buts, if you don’t want listen to me then forget about it” she added before walking off into her room, Louis immediately turned his father.
“ Don’t worry I will talk her” his father spoke before following her in.
“ Lunu!” he called out
“ If you are here to talk me into it then forget it because I’m not changing my mind”
“ but you do realize that our son is no more a kid right? He’s now a full fleshed man”
“ I’m aware of that but how could you forget what happened 15 years ago to him, what if they met each once again? And this time around we won’t be there to pull him out and save him, it’s Cali”
“ Hun I know all of this, I understand that you are worried but what are that chances of them meeting each other? The city is big, as a matter of fact it’s huge, now our son is now grown he can take care of himself very well and besides this is a huge promotion, you should be happy about it”
“ I am happy, really I am but am still not convinced that our little boy would be alright, am telling you that Cali was a bad choice for our son and if anything like before happens to him you will be held responsible for it” she voiced finally giving up.
“ Nothing is going to happen to him I promise you our son will be safe and sound” he said before pulling her into a hug.
Louis sat waiting and hoping for something positive, his parents both walked out, he looked at his father’s face to see if he got a go ahead. “ Louis listen carefully to everything I’m going to be telling you right now” his mom spoke taking a position in front of him with a smile.
“ I want you to call me every day. No buts or ifs, every day just so I know that you’re safe, I’m just worried about you sweetie”
“ I know that mom” he said giving her a very tight hug.
“ I will miss you a lot” she voiced
“ I’ll also miss you as well” he added before breaking from the hug.
“ When do you leave?” she asked.
“ Immediately, I already have movers clearing out my house right now” he replied
“ so you’ve already made up your mind to leave me?”
“ Mom!”
“ I know it’s work, I just can’t believe that you choose without my help then why tell me?” she asked
“ Yes I just wanted to make sure that you were okay with my decision”
“ Well I’m not okay with it but I won’t stop it, don’t forget to visit your granny, she has been lonely since we moved here”
“ And whose fault is that?” asked Ian
“ Don’t get me started, you know I have a lot of things to say”
“ Don’t please” he replied raising his hands in defense which made Louis laugh, he was definitely going to miss them, his reason to live.

A tall young man rushed into the police station, the officer gave him a smile, it was one of his usual visits. The young man gave him a smile before moving closer to the desk, his blonde hair seem to match his cream colored sweat shirt he had on.
“ Good afternoon officer” he greeted with a smile as he approached the desk.
“ Good afternoon Mr. Oscar” he replied knowing the exact reason why he was standing before him
“ Please what cell is he?”
“ His usual cell” he didn’t need to give Oscar any directions as his legs carried him over to the cell the officer was talking about, he could see his brother sitting in the cell with his head in between his legs.
“ Nate!” he called out, causing him to raise his head immediately
“ What took you so long?” he asked
“ You can’t be serious, what did you do this time?”
“ He was involved in a fist fight at school, the parents of the other kid are angry and they are pressing charges” the officer from before voiced.
“ Is there any way we could actually talk to them?” Oscar asked
“ What? why would you want to talk to them? Their son is a dickhead, he even deserves a lot more beating than what I gave him….”
“ Would you shut it, the only thing you know is how to make trouble” he pointed out, Oscar was the only relative that Nate had, their mother had abandoned them and their father was already in heaven.
“ I didn’t make trouble, he thought he could bully me, he didn’t know he picked on the wrong kid” he said with a smile
“ Do you know you are causing me stress, am beginning to grow grey hair just because of you” he said before taking a deep breath turning to Nate. “ If you say as much a word, you’re going sleep on the street tonight” he added
“ You can’t do that”
“ Try me and let’s see how heartless I can be” he said with no sign of joking, he walked towards the office to try to talk to the parents of the boy.
“ Do you raise hoodlums?” the boys mom raised her voice.
“ I am sorry ma, I apologize on behalf of my brother, his behavior was out of line” he spoke
“ I don’t want to hear that from you, I want to hear it from your brother, he should apologize to my son” she said pointing to Nate who was waiting for this bullshit to end so he could go home.
“ Just have a look at what he did to my baby” she turned to a young teen around Nate’s age who was playing games on his phone.
“ That nothing compared to what I was planning to do to him” Nate spoke in a whisper.
“ What did you just say?” the boy’s mother asked looking at Nate
“ Who? Me? I didn’t say a word, I was just trying to recall what was taught in class”
“ Do you see his attitude, he isn’t even remorseful about what he did”
“ I am sure he is ma “ Oscar voiced hitting Nate at the back of his head, “ we are sorry” he apologize before giving Nate a look waiting for his apology, Nate immediately shook his head as he wasn’t ready to apologize.
“ Nate I said apologize” he said through his teeth, Nate rolled his eyes at his brother folding him arm across his chest.
“ Apologize!”
“ Fine, I am sorry for what I did, I won’t in any way do it again” he spoke looking at his brother.
“ What stupid behavior is this, this just goes to show that you both lack home training. I’m pretty sure your mother doesn’t teach you good morals” Nate curled his hand into a fist as he listened to her words.
“ Mom he doesn’t have a mother” her son voiced
“ That’s exactly why you would behave uncultured” she added and Nate was about to give her a piece of his mind but was cut short by his brother.
“ That nice, I really can see how you teach your son how to actually behave, he goes around bullying his classmates that must be something he actually got from you. How well mannered, I'm once again sorry for what my brother did but your son was also wrong” Oscar said grabbing Nate’s arm.
“ What the…..”
“ Oh and one last thing, your behavior stinks just like your son, maybe you could try changing that.” he added before dragging his brother out so he won ‘t get the chance to speak.
“ You’re just going to let them go that boy almost killed my son” she shouted as they walked out
“ Ma there’s nothing I can do, he has paid for bail and we can’t keep him here” the officer responded.
“ What….. no I want that little monster in jail”
“ That was awesome, I never knew you would react in such a way, oh one last thing, your behavior stinks just like your son, maybe you could try changing that? That was the cherry on top” he repeated his brother’s words.
“ Shut your dirty little mouth, this is all your fault, Nate could you just go to school for once without causing any trouble”
“ But I really don’t see the need for school when I’m going to die soon anyways” Nate voiced which earned him a slap at the back of his head.
“ Would you shut it, how many times do I have to warn you from saying such things, you’re not dying, I promise I’ll do everything within my powers to make sure that nothing, absolutely nothing happens to you, do you understand?”
“ Yes sir”
“ so please just focus on your school for now, for my sake” Oscar pleaded.
“ I will try”
“ Let’s go get something to eat.”
