Chapter One: An Accident
“If you cannot be my girl, then you can…” I slammed my hand on the desk, supporting myself to my feet as his lips curled into a grin. I bit my lips seductively, walking around the desk till I was before him. “I know you would come to your senses.” He smiled as my hand found his tie and gripped it seductively. I pushed him onto the chair with my index finger before placing my hand on the table to grab the bottle of wine he was drinking. “Do you know how wine tastes when it’s on me?” I asked him in a low tone. “No, but I bet it tastes good,” “I want you to strip on my command slowly. It would turn me on.” He hesitated. “After three rejections, why did you suddenly agree?” “I didn't want to seem cheap.” My hands moved, unzipping my black jacket to reveal my white singlet that stuck to my boobs and seemed almost transparent. “Damn, looks juicy.” He rubbed his hands and his gaze lingered on my chest. I grabbed my phone, opened the camera app, and posed for a video. “I want to record this moment since it will be my first.” I bent over slowly taking advantage of the camera's weakness. “Now strip, daddy.” My voice was low, breaking in between like little whimpers. He didn't think twice, slipping out of his trousers before tossing them to the other end of the room. . When his trousers were out of the way, and he sat before me in his underwear, I took a sip of the wine, leaving half the bottle in my hands. I grabbed my phone, placing my left hand on his head as I explored his hair. His eyes were now glued to my ass, his arms wide apart as he signaled for me to walk into his grasp. I pretended not to see his signals and he arched back, pushing his lower body forward. “Come to Daddy.” He licked his lip. “In your dreams!” “What did you say?” he snapped. He moved almost immediately, trying to snatch my phone. I wasn't going to let him have his way even if it was a single point of contact. With a swift movement, I stepped to the side, stretching my left leg for him to stumble upon. The next moment, he fell onto the floor, face flat with his underwear sagging a bit. “How does it feel to be the one stepped on?” I said as I pinned him to the floor. I retrieved my phone, recording as I spilled the wine on him and watched him squirm. “Your wife and your eldest daughter, Sofia, would be thrilled to see this,” “You are fired!” he yelled. “No.” I grabbed the wine tight. “I quit.” Knowing how confident he was in his ability to deal with me, it was no surprise that he would try to get rid of me somehow. However, celebrating was the priority. I grabbed my phone and uploaded the video to the company's staff groups and announcement forums. He had made me an admin to showcase his power, what a mistake. “Your staff will finally see the devil behind that facade.” “You will regret this.” He slammed his hand on his desk. “Try me, and you will know why I was hired as your personal bodyguard.” I smashed the bottle of wine on the wall next to him, the sound of broken glass hushing him before he could say another word. I walked towards the door, stopping at the entrance to take one last look at his figure, hurrying to put on his trousers. “You wouldn’t get away with this, Zendaya!!!!” As I walked out of Romera Corps, I could only let out a sigh. It had been quite a long while since I had secured a high-paying job. If I knew that this life would mean that I wouldn't be able to get a job without my body as a condition, I would have opted out. What can I do now? I hopped onto my motorbike, put on my black helmet, and turned the ignition. The engine revved as I stepped on the accelerator and began my journey towards the bar. As I sped up, making a turn onto the highway, memories coursed through my mind. The times I had to decide to leave cause I couldn't work for a perverted boss, the times I had to live in hiding cause I almost killed my boss who kept making naughty advances. When was this all going to stop? When do I get the chance to relax and live freely as a rich, independent lady? How many more times do I have to live in seclusion before I get a big offer that can protect me from the powerful men that I have humiliated? How many months will I have to remain unemployed? The last time I got lucky was two months of unemployment. Knowing my boss at Romera Corps, he wouldn't let me get employed in such a short period. “She's the one!” a voice echoed from the Chevrolet behind me. I snapped out of my thought, taking my time to study the black Chevrolet that chased after me. After humiliating lots of rich men, I couldn't point out to a certain person who would chase after me immediately I left Romera Corporation. With my focus on the Chevrolet, I stepped on the gas and surpassed the speed limit that had been set several miles away. “Watch out.” A lady's voice filled the atmosphere, shifting my focus to the road ahead. Horns suddenly blared, the traffic light turned red before I could hit the brakes, and the black Chevrolet bumped into mine from behind, pushing me in front of a black jeep. “Arghhh!!” My ears were ringing, my vision was slowly becoming blurry, a warm liquid flooded my tongue, tasting like metal and my limbs didn't respond to my instructions. My breath had grown into rasps, and the sound of my racing heart filled the air. I lay lifeless on the ground, my consciousness slipping slowly as my head began to ache. Was this a dream? “Are you okay?” A deep baritone stopped my thoughts, my gaze drifting towards the voice. The sound of clicks filled the air, my body raised the next minute before my helmet fell off my head. “I am so, so sorry…” His voice filled the air as he carried me like a princess into his arms. He didn't flinch under my weight, his brown-toned eyes staring directly at my hazel-toned eyes with a worried look. His dreadlocks swayed slowly, revealing a dragon tattoo on his neck. He had rings on each lock and his broad shoulders were putting other bodyguards to shame. He opened the door of his black jeep, laying me down at the back before hurrying to the driver's seat. As the car sped off, my consciousness began to slip faster, my eyes shutting slowly till I was sealed in the dark. I didn't know what was happening but this was the first time in a long while that thinking was going to solve nothing. Beep, beep, beep… my eyes slowly opened to the sight of fluorescent lamps illuminating white painted walls. My legs still felt numb but I could move them fine even though they hurt. “She's awake!” A young woman ran inside, her blue uniform blocking my sight from the man behind her. His dreadlocks swayed as he stood by the door, tears rolling down his face. “What happened?” I spoke up as she assisted me into a sitting position. “You were hit by a car and this man happened to be in the area. He visits every day.” The nurse narrated in a hurried tone. “How long since the accident?” I asked, my head still hurting. “It has been 366 days since you fell unconscious. We all thought you were dead but he said we shouldn't take you off life support.” She had a sheepish smile. “I am so glad we had hope.” “It has been 366 days…” How could I be asleep for a year? My entire belongings would have been kicked out of my apartment. My subscriptions renewed all by themselves with no one using them… My chest tightened as I digested the misfortune that had befallen me. I wanted to fake a smile at the nurse but the thought of waking up to nothing was unbearable. “Mrs Salvatore right?” The nurse snapped me out of my thoughts. Salvatore? The last time I checked, my last name was Ivy. When did I become Salvatore? “Does that mean that the man at the door is your husband?” she whispered, stealing glances at him. “Can you leave us?” He finally spoke, his baritone hitting me with a wave of nostalgia. The nurse bowed before him, leaving both of us in the room with our eyes locked. “I would need an explanation.” A grin appeared on his face as he sat on the bed next to me, his dreadlocks covering his face while revealing one of his eyes that had a scar.
